Big suffolk ewes and rams being shorn along with a few other breeds.
The heat was intense and it was one of my first days out so I was suffering bad!!

ABOUT ME
I’m 32 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 850 breeding ewes.
I shore over 19,000 sheep this season in the UK and have my own shearing run which lets you see many different farms in the summer months.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on KZfaq and decided I could have a go and now here we are!

Hail hail. Gers are definitely the number two team in Scotland. You need to be drinking loads of water and electrolytes on these hot days. Also, a sun hat would do you some good.

Cammy, invest in a couple ratchet straps.....I'd hate to see your sheet of wood fly off going down the road. I'm sure on sheet wouldn't break the bank but if it causes a wreck you might be up a creek without a paddle. You and lizzy are an awesome team, keep up the amazing work!❤

Cammy I know the felling of the big suff's. I am not clipper trained at all and shear 35 on my own. 27 are pedigree Suffolks 😂. I just do 5 or 7 ever night. I walk them into a dressing head yoke on a gate and they stand great. First blow is from the tail up the spine to the crown of the head, and then work down both sides. No money for wool so their well fare is all I care about . According to research Suffolk is the heaviest and largest breed in breeds on the world of sheep. But they have a great temperament. Gentle Gaints 😂💪🏽😉

Drink plenty of water when you're out in that blazing sun. Maybe consider a fan that blows water vapor/ mist to help battle heat exhaustion.

Mate you need a water bladder you can just drink from hands free i do that sometimes when in the veg garden , because right now it is so hot , so to be able to crack on and stay hydrated it is a must

Cammy, you need ratchet straps! I keep 4 heavy duty and 6 mediums (along with a good tow strap) in my truck at all times! It's not fun when the zip ties give!

Don't take chances with insecure loads especially plywood. I was being over taken by a car and trailer with a 8x4 sheet of plywood laying in the trailer not secured as it passed my truck it lifted out and came through my windscreen luckily the corner caught the steering wheel bending it jamming the plywood against the roof. It could be Lizzy and your children behind you when the cable ties break and the plywood takes off Sorry for rant but insecure loads are deadly

I wonder if there's a market in charging your far visitors to shear sheep. People pay for all sorts of experiences these days - I bet there would be some interest. We office workers rarely get a chance to practise country skills and do a "proper" job of manual work! (Ditto lambing, if it could be offered safely.)
