I enjoy your videos. I do love seeing the babies and the milking. I am from the south of the US so I don't see anything but snow flurries, which even that is rare. When you showed the water stopped up, I will admit I thought it was a neat rock design type thing not a block of ice. I was amazed when you started breaking it apart, and then felt so stupid. Hope you got a chuckle from that. Have a great day!!

Most animals are curious of human activities, and what gets them into trouble. We had a weasel come into our chicken house, and kill about a dozen chickens, we whistled for a few moments and the noise got the weasel to come out to see what the strange noise was...and we gave them a 12 guage #4 shot greeting. End of weasel and this story.

Obsoletely a top notch vlog with a little of everything possible. The heifer who was uncomfortable being milked should be paired with #25, your friend., to keep her relaxed. Just as you said the cows could slip on the icy ground, one did slip and pulled a muscle. Nice train whistle in the background when you were chopping the ice. Dad was very quick with his answer as to why he is in the tractor and when you could expect to get into the tractor (at least during Winter). 🐄 🐄 🐄 🐄 🐄 X 5

Have you looked at the Wolf Garten range of tools designed for gardens but excellent quality to shift all sorts of stuff. There is a sacrificing rake for lawns and a leaf rake, handles are interchangeable expensive but so worth it. The cheap option is to weld a metal handle to a metal head.

Dude great vids, just a thought speaking from experience here, and it may sound crude, but pop a hole in the middle of that black finger nail and let the pressure off it, will feel better, using a really sharp razor blade as I have done or you can take a paper clip and heat it red hot and burn through the nail. Make sure you only go through the nail, nail has no feeling in it, everything below does. Again I have do this and it does help with the pain in the finger.

Apparently cows lose 1 gram salt per liter milk per day. In early days people followed herds because they were looking for salt sources. I wonder do you notice any difference in increased virility, less need for antibiotics, better and shiny fur and higher protein in the milk?

When we Milk fresh heifers, we will leave an older cow in the holding area until we get the heifer in then put the older cow in to hold her in so we don't have to stand with her and she doesn't back out. They can get in a easy habit of backing out if they are left last.

Jan, the salt licks/ blocks- has milk yield increased with the cows taking them so well, due to drinking more water? I tried putting a salt product into the cows diet probably 15 years ago- with in 2 days the passageways were total slop, we had sand beds and they started getting a mess- cows were peeing more due to increased water intake- but our passageways wernt anywhere as wide as yours, so you may not have noticed it? Always best get the vet if not sure, sooner than later- a live calf esp a hfr plus the mums ok for the lactation is worth way over the vets cost.
@curtisfarmsnaturesbalanceh14363 жыл бұрын
What method did the vet use to untwist the cervix. We tried a new method a couple of years ago on a cow and it worked great. Just curious.
