I consider the RRHOF a bit of a joke. Think of all the great artists and bands who are not included, and it's staggering. Jethro Tull, Soundgarden, Motorhead, Joe Cocker, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and of course, The Guess Who. The excuse given most often for the exclusion The Guess Who is that they were too commercial, and focused mostly on AM radio hits. Yet the Hall includes such artists are Abba, The Beach Boys and Blondie, all artists known primarily for the AM hits. Plus, to call it the ROCK and ROLL Hall of Fame, and include such artists as Joan Baez, Harry Belafonte, Nat King Cole, and Neil Diamond, makes the whole thing a bit of a farce. Unless you consider "Song Sung Blue" a Rock Classic, then there is absolutely no hope for you.

They probably get the shaft because they're a Canadian rock band. That's the only reason I can think of why they continue to get snubbed by the RRHOF.

@@angiepassetti1877When I was about 10 years old, that was the time I became interested in music at that time. The songs were great to listen to. And later also to dance to. Such as English pop song and American music. And of course not to forget the music that was played during Woodstock and also Soul R&B and Jazz. Big bands with Frank Sinatra. Salsa Meringue. It's too much to mention. The offer at that time was huge. I even listened to classical music. The primary school where I was taught at the time. He organised trips to the concert hall. And then a few classes from the school would sit and watch and listen to the concertgebouw orchestra. Great time it was, don't you think.

Burton Cummings co-wrote and recorded this song when he was just 19 years old. Think about that kiddos. No computers. No auto-tune. No software program BS. Just a pen and paper and a voice and actual instruments and a brain. It's amazing what human beings can accomplish when they are challenged instead of handed a crutch and sold victimhood :) . Yeah, you won't hear music of this quality being created ever again, unless somehow someone creates artificial intelligence capable of human emotion and talent...

The bands first gold single reached # 6 on Billboard in April of 1969 . This song almost never came to be if not for producer Jack Richardson . He mortgaged his home in order to get the group to RCA studios in New York to record These Eyes in late 1968 . We never new about this very " gutsy move " as Burton puts it until years afterword . This action by record producer Jack Richardson turned into a 14 album recording association with the Guess Who and RCA . From their first ( RCA ) single These Eyes and album Wheatfield Soul through the(LP) Power In The Music released in July of 1975 . After a finial 60 city tour Burton left the Guess Who in September of 1975 .

I am so proud of my 27 year old daughter, two years ago she saw my album collection,60s,70s,and80s. Asked me if she could borrow them. She bought a turntable and listens to them. Loves Fleetwood Mac,won a trivia game at a club because she knew where the Pretenders started out. She’s familiar with Eric Clapton, her and I have seen Journey, and Def Leppard with the Pretenders. We are going to a Lynyrd Skynyrd show this fall, love it. She really hopes Fleetwood Mac tours so we can see them together. I must mention that I attended many shows since the Allman Brothers in 74 , so I’m kinda reliving my youth. So yes there are young people who appreciate what good music is. This group included!! Love Burton’s voice.

Songs like this carry the memories and wonder of my youth. They gave me insights for living through many of life’s firsts, and a language to think/sing about my experiences while ‘growing up.’ They resonated with the forces of my budding youth and my emergence into an adulthood. They were messages of curiosity (many quite philosophical); of idealism and disappointment; of love and rejection; of the libido for risk, trouble and discovery.
