Going out for a walk on a nice, sunny day can really clear the "cobwebs" out of your head. If you are having problems, a walk can help you see things from a different perspective.

Was interesting to hear Alex talk about the Keycult he bought aftermarket for 2k. Knowing that's probably CAD or USD, that hurts my Australian mental wallet immensely haha. The most I've ever been prepared to spend on a board that I really did genuinely want was 1350AUD flat for a Dalco 959 Mini, and I'm happy that I decided to do so because it's a board I've always wanted, but it wasn't a decision that I came to lightly Those frankenswitches slap too btw, even just Cherry-topped SP-Star Meteors are king

Isn’t it another BCP? Thicker Nylon bottom and hard-longer POM stem with the Cherry MX top housing. But it is Tecsee stem, which is softer stem, so the sound will be louder and not such clear push back like MX cream

@AlphaTenkai

Yeah its a variation material wise but you will find out that not all nylon, or any material top, bottom or stem will give off the exact same sounds when mixed together and also stem length can change how things feel and sound as well. The difference in sound may be minimal or quite different depending on what all is used. At the same time though I use what I have on hand to try and have as little waste as possible also

@@AlphaTenkai sorry for hijacking this thread. Attempted to follow your frankenswitch components for your later creation, the one with Kailh black v1 stems. Couldn’t seem to get them to fit right. The stem sticks out a bit when bottoming out. Although, im using SP Star v3 for bottom housing. Not sure if that’s vastly different from the SP Star whites u use. Are u using SP Star v1 or v2? So far my components is, Cherry MX black top, SP Star v3 (blue) and Kailh black v1 stems I’ve only tried piecing these together to see how they fit. Haven’t switched springs, nor lubed and/or filmed them I used the stock SP Star v3 springs when testing
@AlphaTenkai
@AlphaTenkai 8 күн бұрын
@@AndrewSimWeiJie Are you asking if the switch stem should stick out from the top of the switch housing when fully pressed in? If that’s your question/concern, that’s functioning as intended. It will not be level with the switch top, it will stick out when fully pressed. If you are asking something else let me know and I’ll try to help. Also what I use and know about specific parts is below I used Bubble stems for mine which are no longer made and am currently using SWK stems from other switches that also are not around as they come and go on a whim it seems so for simplicity sake I only have experience using Zaku or Geon black stems, which of the two I before Zaku stems just a slight bit more I don’t have any experience with the Kailh black v1 stems although I know in other builds that Alex has also done, Kailh black stems were used. I used Sp Star meteor White V2 bottoms but have also tested V3s with Zaku stems and cherry tops and they worked fine as well I used Sprit slow 2 or slow 3 springs both of which work as well. Filming also hasn’t been an issue and I use Deskey ones. Sometimes you will need to switch around the cherry tops as they are not always consistent and some may be a hair tighter than others which will cause a slightly sluggish return once lubed but pretty easy to swap those around with other stems to find ones that don’t have that issue occur

Including shipping from the various places as finding all the parts from one site would be a chore, probably around $1.50 - $1.75 a switch would be my best guess (could be off depending on current prices and sales)

SP Star Meteor series runs around 55¢ ea, Cherry MX series runs around 40¢ ea, Bubble switches were about 70¢ ea, aftermarket springs come out to around 10¢ ea, films 8¢ ea, lube used judiciously around 2¢ a switch, and not counting labor and love, it'd be around $1.85 not counting shipping and taxes

I'm using a PC plate in a Matrix 8xv3 and it sounds like trash. Alu and PR4 any day in anything. I have an Endless-80 with a PC plate that sounds pretty good but otherwise, it's my least favorite of all plate materials. It sounds like plastic. I pay a premium for my keyboards to not sound like a Razer.
