Very interested in the hardwood stand improvement. For a hard woods stand are you still thinning to 60 basal feet per acre for 12" DBH trees? Also are you spraying imazapry with a skid steer, like in the pines or something different? I guess the mature hardwoods are tall enough the herbicide does kill them? You might have already answer these in your previous videos but I’m behind on my KZfaq watching. Thanks for all the helpful info!

imazapyr is ground active and should not be sprayed under hardwoods. If it is broadly applied it will enter tree roots and kill trees that were meant to be saved.

What is the best way to apply herbicide for sweet gum after a thin? Spot spray with back pack sprayer?

They paint it onto the stump with a brush.

I recently hack and squirted a bunch of sweet gum, if you cut them down without killing them with herbicide they explode with shoots really fast regrowth.

This depends on the stem size and count. If feasible, the hack and squirt method works well! If in a pine areas, folks often use a skidder or chopper if the area to be treated is large enough.
