We knew he was special, but NOBODY, not even Bret Veach and Andy Ried knew he was gonna be this good. You really notice it when you watch any other game he is not playing in.

As a fan watching, I too was “concerned” how the 2nd half of the ACFCCG appeared that Baltimore was stifling KC. While there may be some truth to that, it also appears that Andy Reid and Company was purposefully playing for a stalemate in the 2nd half KNOWING that Lamar Jackson would press, not handle the pressure, then make the mistakes. (LJ had ZERO come from behind wins this year.). And when PM had the opportunity to go for the kill shot on 3rd and 9 with 2:09 left, he took his one and only required sniper shot. Soul snatched!

Mahomes plays like the big brother that can really beat you bad but doesnt because he knows you wouldn't play with him any more.

Here's a fun fact for y'all: the only quarterback in NFL history with at least 250 postseason pass attempts and a better TD/INT ratio than Patrick Mahomes is his mentor Alex Smith, who finished with a career mark of 7.00 (Mahomes is currently at 5.57).

First time in years Travis Kelce doesn't make 1k yards, he is shy by 16 yards. Down years for TKelce are career years for most others.

you dont lie bro. And he did not get the 16 yards because he opted not to play the last week 18 game.

When the Chiefs let Alex Smith go... I had multiple people come up to me and say, "What are the Chiefs going to do? They let their QB go. " And I would just look at them and say, "We have that good rookie, Patrick Mahomes." I had no idea just how NOT worried we were going to be. Wow.

I'll admit. I said the same thing! lol Alex Smith just got done having the best season of his career. A really solid game general. And we let him go. I was like, it figures, that's how the Chiefs roll. Then Mahomes came in and I shut up real quick like. lol

I was on the fence too, Mahomes had all the physical traits, but I hadn't seen the leadership and drive to win when he was in college. I think that year under Alex was huge.
@dsfddsgh
@dsfddsgh 6 ай бұрын
@@JohnClarkW He always had the drive and leadership to win even in college he had to have those traits because his defense was usually so awful he had to learn to play from behind. Probably the reason he doesn't panic when the Chiefs fall behind such as when it was 24-0 against the Texans the year they won their first Super Bowl. I remember when it was all falling apart in that game he didn't have the look of someone that was beaten but was rallying his teammates on the bench. You could see the leader he already was and by halftime they had the lead and the rest is history.

Chase is incorrect in his statement that Mahomes had an 'insane' number of turnover worthy plays in the regular season at ANY point. Mahomes has ranked in the BOTTOM 8 in TWP% in every single season as a starter!

This year the chiefs actually proved Mahomes does not have to throw 3-400 yds per game to win. He is the best ever and always getting better. There has never been such an amazing athlete able to keep his composure under pressure on and off the field at this level until Patrick Mahomes joined the NFL

The narrative of the Cheifs being "shut out" in the second is going to drive me crazy! The Chiefs OBVIOUSLY went conservative in the second half and when they needed a play to end it they got it no problem!
@JohnClarkW

The Ravens never got to touch the ball while trailing by one possession. The game plan was to hold the ball, and put pressure on Lamar to throw the ball.

Patrick was brought up and groomed to be what/who he is, as a professional athlete, by his father a 10+ yr pro baseball player. He throws the ball like an elite QB, but also like a short stop in baseball and a forward in basketball. NO QB in the NFL has ever been able to throw like him, in ANY position without setting his feet. Like his dad said…We’ve never seen anything like him! A competitive prick, indeed 😁🏆🏆🏆

In addition to the fact that Mahomes doesn't need to plant himself at all to throw dimes, his intelligence for the game is off the charts. He is to football what Wayne Gretzky was to hockey. I think that Mahomes was on a show with the Manning brothers recently and they were just watching a game and Mahomes correctly predicted the next THREE plays for the offense. Not one. THREE. The Mannings couldn't believe it.

Patrick "Showtime" Mahomes is absolutely a generational player, the likes of which the NFL has never seen! 😮 As you said, and he's getting better! 😊

I thought Baltimore's 4-man rush vs KC's much-maligned offensive line was a key matchup, and the KC O-Line held up pretty well, straight up.

What you don't take into consideration is his YAC averages. He has the highest in league history. You can't talk about his passing stats without bringing up how most of it comes on screens and short passes, just like Brady.

you're wrong about Mahomes 'learning to protect the ball' the dude has never been a turnover machine. that is entirely media narrative. 'i dont remember the study' yeah no shit, no one does, because it's not true.

Tossing short passes, screens, etc., is a classic Dan Marino set of moves. Marino made a career out of that style. Thankfully, Mahomes also has a great defense to back him up. Who else holds the MVP to 10 points over 4 quarters?

There are a lot of teams you could ask. He's had a big rush every game this postseason. I like how JT O'Sullivan describes his killer instinct on the ground: he's never the fastest guy on the field, but he sees the open space and the physics better than anybody and he's _always_ fast enough.
