I agree on everything minus 2 things 11:38 - while the swivel of the tail is something I agree shouldn't be a thing, it's still worth keeping articulated so the tail can be posed upwards and downwards (although BotM from creative beasts studio execute this better than Mattel) 12:17 As much as I'd like to agree with this It really does make it more expensive if they were to change the sculpts right now after having made them how they are. Cause they'd have to make new molds to be more accurate which becomes expensive when you multiply the amount of those molds they have to then use to replace in their factories in multiple locations. Now is it that costly for Mattel? I don't think so considering they're a big company with plenty of money to do the job, but there's still an expense there. Other than that, great video and I agree with everything else

The "broken" jaw of the Rex is the main reason why I didn't try to get one, even though the Dominion dark colored Rex isn't screen accurate, I loved it more than this one due to being "styled" instead of just looking odd

I loved Mattel but they need to improve and gladly thanks to the new habitat defender triceratops I think they are!

The Hammond collection, imo, is a great selection of figures. The only thing that outdoes it is Beasts of the Mesozoic but granted that is really expensive. Do I think some of your changes are necessary, not all but some, but to act like these figures are bad and change some of them to the point where they aren’t even similar does make it feel like your asking too much. And I know, Mattel did say they were for adult collectors. But it’s Mattel, a company that makes toys for kids. You can’t expect a company that makes toys for kids to live up to a promise like that. That’s David Silva’s job. That’s like saying “Fortnite said they were going to make their guns more realistic” but all they do is change the colors to black and gray and keep the funky designs and then expect them to make the guns photo realistic. Mattel isn’t for adult collectors, but what we’ve gotten has more than met my expectations, so this doesn’t “trigger” me per say, but I can understand why people would be. Good vid otherwise.

God if Mattel ACTUALLY made it look that screen accurate...even though I have THREE Mattel Tyrannosaurs already - the Hammond Collection one, the Dominion one AND the T. rex escape pack one (oh my god I really have 3...good lord...why do I have 3) I'd HAPPILY get it. Yes, Mattel - please LISTEN to your fans. Really. Look, make the cheapy ones for the kids, ok? That's fine. The Hammond Collection should be - as the name implies - for COLLECTORS - and children are not the ones COLLECTING these things. Kids today are way too young to have even SEEN Jurassic Park in all probability unless their parents made them sit through what they'd view as a "really old movie". Full grown adults, Mattel. That's who is buying the collection. So please..just...PLEASE just hire someone who cares about getting things screen accurate? It DOES matter and it really wouldn't be more expensive - in fact once you HAD the screen-accurate sculpt, you could just keep making new versions of that and releasing it in different packs - maybe blunt the teeth or whatever for the main line but EVERYONE WINS if you do that. And the feet. How many times do people have to tell them the feet look awful before they listen? It really more than anything else ruins the entire aesthetic. ALSO, bring back the original box art from the Kenner days along with that color scheme and trading cards. YES PLEASE.

I think the T-Rex figure (mostly just the head) is more based on the digital model more than the animatronic model The differences are that the head shale is more different with a more streamlined jaw and less wide face, and the number of teeth is slightly different

the ones from mattel are still super good but this is way better

Will you also do Lego dinosaurs fixing series? Since their most recent dinosaurs like Giganotosaurus, Therizinosaurus, Baryonyx etc are horrible, reusing parts, totally wrong proportions etc.

That is what us Jurassic world fans want an movie accurate tyrannosaurus rex and the rest of the Hammond collection dinosaurs of the line but that’s not the only problem with Mattel , the other problem with Mattel is the quality control its bad sometimes with not the right paint, less paint through out the bodies of the Jw figures including the teeth not even movie accurate but I understand that they make it safe for kids so that won’t hurt them

I worked on the original Jurassic park and lost world that Stan Winston studios. I agree with a lot of your critique on the T Rex I know it's supposed to be a collective but it's still a toy! I give Mattel a pass! It's still a toy! They use pre existing molds and just modify the sculpt a little it's about the money! It's cheaper! I know cause I've worked with companies like Mattel before! Company's will cut corners to save money! Hey don't consider these toys adult collectible! Want a pretty accurate JP T-Rex you have to pay around 600.00 to over a thousand dollars for One! You get what you paid for! I love your modifications you did for us to make this T Rex more accurate! You're a great sculpter keep up the great work!

The rex might not be screen accurate, but in my opinion it is very detailed.

its interesting that a company with access to the cgi models of the dinosaurs of the franchise cannot do what a fan with a 3d printer and skills in 3d modeling can do. because if you see the figures made by the fans, they look pretty accurate but when you see the mattel figures they look a bit cartoony

i'm giving up collecting HC and possibly even the mainline, and this was the nail in the coffin. As if the figures weren't already extremely expensive in my country, the quality decline and this bad aura that fell over the community burned me out. And it's the same thing with the other toylines i collect

Thankls for this, I recently discovered this line of toys and was considering it. But the quality is subpar for a premium line. I collect Hiya Alien figures and Studio Series transformers and those stand out for their accuracy and attention to detail (especially Hiya figures for the 1/18th scale). These feel like mainline figures which is quite disappointing considering the price tag.

Ok. The new redesign of this Trex at the end is pretty much a hole new creature. That looks more laike a BOTM taipe figurine , but for JP, and cant put into words how nice it would be to have this level of detail from Mattel , seeing that as you saide, it would not cost much more then what we got already. I got the Rex and I love it. Is my first ever ,,collectors" laine figurine , but, after I saw this change from how it lookt , I have to admit, it could have be MUCH BETTER . Againe. The fans do a better job then the company itself . The fact that the main laine toys look iven worse in some cases ....is a bit sad , seeing that this you could be normal and the collector laine could have been a hole new lv of amazing. Great job and keep up the good work. PS. Mabey you shude ask the guys that makes this line to hire you , especially with other dinosaurs (Brachio and a new Trex being the brand new big figurines of this laine) being announced and workt on.

I waited for quite a while for you to give a correction crticism on the Hammond T-Rex. I was honestly dissapointed on it's jaw opening feature and it looks weird to say the least.

4:54 Original HC rex head it's accurate to the CGI version. Especially the front view of it (Except the teeth). It's different from Animatronic. But i actually prefer the Animatronic version as you do. I think replacement head of your is good for people that prefer the Animatronic one. But some people don't mind that because original is accurate to CGI.

4:34 THANK YOU! HC T. Rex is so overhyped and overrated when it doesn't even hold up to a basic Mattel mainline Rex. Bought one on a Black Friday sale to repaint it and when I took it out of the box, I was so let down that I listed it on eBay. I just want it gone.

My issue with all these new figures is the lack of detail, how cartoonish and childish all the figures look. Yes they are toys and they are aimed for kids but in my opinion, the figures are all badly put together for the price that patents and collectors alike have to pay for them. No real imagination or dedication to the franchise. The figures all feel like a cheap moneygrab.

Marco, you deliberately ignore the fact that animatronic T. rex was not accurate to your visual guide. Nor are you mentioning real problems like waaay long neck, big hands (which is accurate to CGI Rex but not animatronic one) and most importantly plastic quality and joints problems. Sculpt is not the problem, quality is problem. Hell, my HC Outhouse Rexy already starts to paint chip and it’s been only a few months since I have her
