This and so many others have their roots in the 1959 book Immortality Inc by Robert Sheckly which was one of the first books I read cover to cover and hooked me on sci-fi.

I can't say for sure but I suspect the people who run the recap channels are actually Russian. While this movie is not one of them, i have watched an unusually large number of Russian made movies reviewed by the Recap channels. The voices used to narrate the story are almost certainly computer generated. A native English speaker would never mispronounce the words "Mardi Gras" and say "Mar-die grass". It's pronounced like marty-graw.
