It's called a furlough. They have those in America for people who are on a lower level of supervision than full incarceration. There are also weekend sentences, where you literally serve your sentence in jail on the weekends instead of every day consecutively. You also sometimes get to choose when you go to serve your sentence, if you have a reasonable request like needing to attend a funeral. Then on the other hand we have crazy things like the public defender's number being blocked on prison phones, not being allowed to use the law library till you lose your case, having to pay for your stay in jail even if your charges are dropped, having half your bail kept by the state, being charged 2-4k in excess of your fines for court costs, among a host of human rights violations all different from state to state and prison to prison. The only thing that's true everywhere is that if you're rich, you probably aren't spending any time in jail.

In canada you spend monday-friday at home, go to work, then on the weekend you go back to jail. people do it. In droves.

The others I know of are a gps monitor without intercom, also needs to change each night. And then in home monitor only, which has a box you plug into power and phone line, the bracelets just an RFID tag that the box checks for to be in range at random intervals.

GPS manipulation is easy but getting to it without giving yourself up would be a real challenge and just not worth it to the average Joe.
