The central metaphor of the song, the manananggal, is a monster from Filipino folklore. During the day it seems like a normal person but at night it transforms into a winged vampiric creature. It wants to fly off into the night and attack victims, but it's cursed to always keep its feet on the ground, so it basically tears its upper torso off at the waist, flying away and leaving its legs behind, and then rejoining its halves just before dawn. The message of the song is pretty much what you interpreted it to be - like the manananggal, they are both flying to the heights of fame and success and simultaneously keeping their feet on the ground, remaining humble and in touch with where they came from.

First of all, you've become my favourite reactor to SB19 songs. Great interpretation of the lyrics! Thank you for appreciating our boys. Truly. Secondly, I just want to give credit where credit is due. Pablo is a brilliant composer, lyricist, producer and arranger. Apart from writing songs like they were poetry, he has musicality. He knows how different each of them sounds and allots each where each will shine. And he is never selfish about it. He makes sure to highlight each member's strengths. And the harmonies? He just has a gift when he breaks down the chords and brings them together into a 5-part harmony. When I praise him like this, I know I praise the whole group because he always represents the whole group -- he doesn't call attention to himself. So when you say you love the lyrics and how the words are mixed or brought together? That's all Pablo. Of course, the work is only as good as the execution. These 5 complement each other. They are so different in tone quality so they shouldn't work... but they do. It's magic when they are together. They released their debut song in 2018... but they only went viral in Oct 2019 with their 2nd release. They almost disbanded when their first release didn't go anywhere. Thank God they decided to give it one more shot. When the pandemic hit just a few months after they started gaining traction in the Philippines, they continued to make lemonade out of lemons. They generated online content and Pablo (he went by the name Sejun then) composed IKAKO which was instrumental in helping the Filipinos and frontliners through lockdown. There's a whole video series on SB19 Official's YT channel of how Pablo composed the song and how each member got a recording of their parts from him and how each practices their parts. About the grounded you got it right. Because Manananggal is a mythical creature which separates its body and fly so high but its lower stays in the ground, and everytime it still goes back to its body on the ground. If you can find time to watch the dance choreography you will be amazed that they can dance and still maintain the live vocals.

It is able to separate its upper torso from the lower part of its body. And you're correct it signifies that no matter how high they can soar above they dont get carried away. The one with the low notes is KEN who is also their main dancer. These guys are really talented. They can all sing, dance, rap. So that is the perfect characterization used in this song to show who they are and what they are trying to achieve and are achieving now... Another play of words in MANA is that the word itself meant inheritance which Pablo used to say that what they have... the talents, the skills, and the blessings they have came from "the Father" who is God.

It looks/sounds creepy but with the great talent of Pablo (the lyricist) he was able to to pull it off and made a masterpiece. It's hard to make a song with that. SB19 managed to flip the coin turning it into something favorable. For them they become beasts that soar when performing but like the manananggal they remain grounded. No matter how far they go they will remain humble.

I don't think I have heard him attempting to name any member. Its always by their attributes. And I found that unacceptable and rude. We have Western names unlike other Asian groups, which would be harder to recall and remember. Reactions can be fabricated to satisfy the viewers. But knowing the artist beyond their songs is a sign of genuine appreciation of the artist and not simply because he was asked to do so. If viewers stop requesting SB19, would he still watch them on his own time? I hope so. A lot of new reactors to SB19 get a sudden rise in views and subscriptions, so naturally, they would react to SB19 consecutively. For me, exerting effort at the very beginning equates to REAL AND GENUINE interest in the artist.
