My daughter was a virtual student last year so I heard her classes, the librarian gave a great lesson on MLK Jr. and told the kids when they have off on Monday, to not just kick back and relax, to do some service that will make your community a better place

It was small things like helping someone or picking up trash, my girl and I picked up trash by the local river. @@drstevej2527 I know you're a troll, but I can't help but respond. Native Americans and Black Americans are on equal footing when it comes to crimes done to them in this country. While other people of color have also faced discrimination, Native and Black Americans have been consistently targeted, and the generational poverty that stems from racist laws to deny them property, equal access, and basic human rights is still visible. Throughout America's history, both groups had their children, culture, and property taken away because powerful White America felt threatened.

For anyone who enjoyed this I highly recommend the new "some more news" episode about the whitewashing and hijacking of MLK's words. Just searching some more news MLK on KZfaq should get you to the right video. The channel is called "some more news" and they are great. Anyway, happy MLK day, I encourage people to celebrate by listening to or reading some of his full speeches. Everyone knows the "I have a dream" part of his work, but he fought for so much more, and accomplished great things.

If you're going to try and celebrate Martin Luther King Day this one simple solution to really do so. Let Congress let every business let all of them take Racial equality seriously and then you can celebrate his legacy. Meaning you got to make sure everyone can vote, you got to make sure everyone can buy houses and live independently. You got to make sure that black people can go up the hierarchy of power (which requires you to listen to them) don't only let white men be the top CEOs and executives and most importantly TREAT. US. LIKE. EVERYONE ELSE! No microaggressions no blatant racism and either no more police brutality or lessen it. That my friends is how you celebrate MLK Day

I mean just look at his and every republicans policies towards Climate change it all boils down to "why regulate the industries and corporations that produce the overwhelming majority of Carbon and methane released into the atmosphere when all we have to say is "Well we are already going off a cliff so let's race the precipice of mass extinction anyway while making as much ultimately useless paper so we can let the entire planet and it's inhabitants suffer the consequences of our actions after all we are most older white men who don't have 10-20 years to live what does it matter if there's little to no life on planet bc of us". Indeed he was an avowed anticapitalist, but he was also anti-communist and anti-materialist, both of which do not square at all with positions such as Orthodox Marxism and even less Marxism-Leninism and the like. His economic positions were kind of revolutionary for America, but they were more along distributist lines, for which in Europe even most centre-right parties of Christian Democrats wouldn't bat an eye. Hi sir love your program....but the system always fails black people 💜
@velikovskysghost
@velikovskysghost 2 жыл бұрын
@Margaret Myers The system fails for all humanity if it fails for black people! Right now I believe all humanity is being scrutinized, watched closely, in regards to whether or not we are acceptable to the rest of the universe, and right now I'd say, we're not! We're poisoning our own world with tons upon tons of garbage, we continue to poison our oceans, lakes, rivers, and streams. Denuding our forests, the lungs of our Earth, and I could go on and on. Bottom line is we need to ask ourselves, would we want what we're doing to ourselves an our planet to run free in the universe, I wouldn't! But let's not end this comment on the negative but suggest that if we wake up from our stupor and are willing to work for it, we can achieve equality here on our little blue marble, in the universe.

The slaves taken through all but the earliest of the middle passage were peaceful people. That’s why they were taken, they weren’t people who believed in violence or it would have been their only recourse. I was taught violence to defend myself from violent people. I know what it’s like to be bullied because you don’t understand why someone is choosing to harm you- but now I know when someone wants violence and peace is something they will not accept No matter how much you surrender to them

The greatest failure/ mistake is the labeling of certain Americans as blacks or African Americans. After fighting for freedom and equality, labeling some people as black Americans or African Americans doesn’t help that. Now 2022, black still sounds offensive when innocently expressed. No one has ever referred to me as “ black whatever “ because any intelligent person understands that as insult.

I needed to see this! I have coke to loath the time between MLK Day and March 1st, just because the school curriculum is so problematic to me as a mom of multi racial children. My son came home from kindergarten last week talking about how black people are treated badly. Okay, valid. But for an kindergartner, that turned into him telling ME I’m treating him bad because he’s black over every little thing. Now every time I wake him up for school or tell him he has to brush his teeth and get washed up, he’s having an emotional breakdown that his mom is treating him bad for being black. Ask the teacher, she has no clue what they read 😒 Now I’m pushing to be shown all of their materials that address MLK,or black history, or anything like it.
@seanyoung9014
@seanyoung9014 2 жыл бұрын
Probably kindergarten is too young for a kid to grasp the nuances of racial oppression vs doing things he doesn't want to do. I remember being a kid and looking for any loopholes that would get me what I wanted and get my parents out of my face for a minute. That's probably a lot more likely than the school indoctrinating him with black victimhood.
