Are the people who get banned from cruise lines reckless and dangerous? Or did they just make silly mistakes? In this video we will look at real stories from people who were banned from cruises, for life. Some put themselves and others in danger but some were just accomplices to the acts.
Did they deserve the ban? Let me know in the comments!

Definitely agree with the ban for all that guy's friends. I've watched the footage, they're all encouraging him and none try to stop him. Nobody in that party ever had safety in mind so you can't take the risk with any of them.

This is why I think the ban was fair, from what you said about the footage they were as involved. But if he just did it outta the blue to suprrise his friends...it would have been massively unfair.

The guy who jumped probably had no idea how close he came to not surviving to be punished. The maximum survivable fall into water for a sober person is around 160 ft. (according to a Mythbusters experiment). He was probably drunk and that saved his life (apparently drunk people crumple more on impact drastically increasing their chances of surviving). At 120 ft. an object would hit the water at 96 km/h.

The cruise line is totally justified in banning those who so blatantly violate their safety protocols. It's not about stopping individuals from having fun, it's keeping the idiots from killing themselves and putting so many others (cruisers and staff alike) in jeopardy. I do know a cruise ship's captain who has been in service for quite a few years. This would be a well known British cruise line! He told me that he had to order an entire family to leave his ship after they showed very little regard to other cruise passengers and the complaints came flooding in. He did say that this sort of behaviour is now unfortunately on the increase. After cruising for many years without ever seeing any such incidents I think that this is a terrible shame and spoils the whole ambiance of a ship and the passengers enjoying their voyage. Some people can be selfish, stupid and thoughtless to others.

We were on the Caribbean Princess going through the Pana Canal, when a man sat on the railing above the pilot house to look over the heads on everyone that was on the observation deck.. we were in the cabin right behind him, and I had to call security. 3 times. I really didn't want to see a person die that day, and it seemed no one took me seriously. Finally our cabin steward went out and told gim to get down. I felt sorry for our steward. Security didn't show up for 30 mins after that.

I have this acquaintance. Bragged about the crazy things she does when she gets plastered..... from running naked around the hotel building at 4am with her friends, to dancing on the table in bars. Well, she started going on cruises, for the last year bragging she can go on them whenever she wants. Well, that didn't last too long. According to her former friend (who was with her, and now embarrassed by her) , she got so drunk at a dinner, she got up fell into the waiter knocking over the tray he was holding and it knocked someone in the head :elderly. She also vomited all over the floor. They had to lift this 230 pound woman back to her room. The elderly man sued........ not the cruise line, but HER. Had to forfeit all her "free" cruises. She isn't bragging anymore. PS...btw, this person is well in her forties

Oddly I was reminded of the other major incident on Britannia only a few days ago by a lady I was talking to who was on the ship at the time. She normally cruises with Celebrity but with all the hype around Britannia at the time decided to sail the Caribbean on her. A whole family brawled on the top deck - drunk. Punches were flying etc. The WHOLE family (and I believe there were quite a few of them) were debarked in Antigua and had to find their own way home. Imagine the cost!

Regarding the guys who were all banned because one of them jumped: perhaps Royal thought they encouraged their friend to jump and therefore were as guilty as if they themselves jumped. Maybe not fair, but from Royal’s perspective, they could end up jumping or encouraging someone else to jump, so why take that chance.

@@Dalts1985 People need to remember as soon as you step outside your room or onto a balcony it's a public space in effect so behave accordingly. I would add the incident in question was photographed with a high power zoom lens from the dock. So I tend to think someone wanted to make a point about a gay cruise ships. Not so sure it would have made news of it was a straight couple. Either way.....never on the balcony ! Lol

When liability comes into play the entities that might be affected can become pretty rigid about not letting an incident happen again. The loss in revenue would be minimal compared to the cost of a lawsuit and/or a judgement.

The thing about the guy who jumped so his friends could film....you mentioned the high dives in the Olympics. There is a small stream of water sort of shooting into the pool to break the surface of the water. Hitting water from that high up must be like hitting cement, in my imagination. The person in the clown costume....how many people are afraid of clowns??? A lot, I've heard
@KravKernow

There's that theory that if you have to jump from height into water, you should try to drop a heavy object first. To break the surface tension. I have no idea if that would work or not though.

Every time he was at the buffet or just passing by, he'd grab a bunch of cookies and stick them in his pocket. Every single shirt he had was wrecked from the oils and chocolate in them! He didn't mind all his shirts were ruined, the cookies were worth it, in his opinion. He even took some home!

Great episode! So here I am on a Mexico Cruise, solo and balcony. Guy adjacent to me is smoking on his balcony (strike one) He finished his cigarette and flips it into the ocean. (Strike two) WE ARE IN PORT! I read him the riot act. He then says the completely unexpected.... "I'll get it!" And jumps off his balcony to the ocean below from deck 12! There are plenty of smoking sections but once they fished him out...lifetime ban. I joked with officers the rest of the cruise, "place him dockside next time"

@@RobSojourn I was worried when my 30 year class reunion was held on a Carnival CruiseLine. The superintendent of our high school was caught on a hot mike saying, "The class of '86 is the worst class to ever step foot through Henderson County's doors." We were a bit boisterous and the man was in his 70's and had been in the school system 30 years so I'm sure we were more challenging than our parents' generation when he was first started. I'm not sure what happened for him to make this statement but knew he was annoyed and tried to have a black student expelled after he refused to wear the school mascot mask because the student considered it racist. Our mascot was the Colonel...(Kentucky) Colonel Sanders. He was our mascot for 2 years...without the mask. My class felt they got their revenge by printing his quote on every reunion t-shirt.🤣 *School superintendent responsibilities include hiring staff, solving problems and lobbying for additional resources, when needed. A track record of school leadership and strong communication skills are essential for this position. Job Description The role of a superintendent is to serve as the overall senior leader of a school district.

Leaving off suicides, most banning involves idiots climbing onto railings. Just the idea of hitting the water and being pulled under by the mechanics underneath the ship and being chopped up gives me the creeps. I was on an NCL cruise in 2018. I was playing blackjack at a blackjack table and a man in a Captain's uniform sat down next to me and started to play also. I didn't think the staff and crew were allowed to fraternize with the guests, but I didn't want to be rude. I asked, "So what's your job here.......?" He looked at me like "What the heck?" Then he said "Oh you thought I was really an officer? This is just a costume, I'm just having fun." For the rest of the time he was sitting there, I called him "Cap'n". The next day I saw him near the casino but he was in regular clothes. I said, "Hey Cap'n' where's your uniform HA HA". He said, "I got taken to security and they made me take it off and I'm not allowed to wear it onboard." Then he looked like he was surprised at the whole situation.
