I have an elderly friend in a nursing home. It is awesome to see this bed ridden man tell the scammers that call him to "f@#$ off and don't ever call me again!"

It's very sad to think about but I bet a LOT of retired/elderly people "fall" for these scams just because it's a person to talk to that will talk with them for hours. Like they are looking forward to answering a phone call, from anyone and everyone. It's kind of like how I know a few people like that who's sole source of social interaction is going to sit down at restaurants multiple times a day, or talking to me because I do their landscaping.

@@CadgerChristmasLightShow Oh most definitely. Some of them get put in nursing homes and completely forgotten about. No texts, phone calls, nothing. It's pretty sad. I don't know how they deal with it. I would be depressed if I were treated that way in my elderly age.

genuinely, it made me so upset. it gave me a moment of realization that these scams actually work and the scammers on the phone are completely heartless and don’t care about the elderly or anyone. they made someone take their life and probably didn’t shed a tear or feel any remorse

My grandfather who is also in his late 70s was recently scammed out of over $50,000+. It was a longer term scam, where he thought he was in a relationship with some “woman” who took advantage of the fact that my grandmother had passed and he was lonely and isolated after he decided to move to a cheaper state (against our pleas to not do so). When he started telling people about this “relationship” in which this woman would ONLY communicate through messaging and refused to speak on the phone or see him in person, we all urged him that it was a scam, but he refused to listen. Eventually, “she” successfully scammed him for the first time by making up some sort of fake crisis, in which he actually took it upon himself to travel to the state “she” claimed “she” resides in, stayed in a hotel for several days, sent her several thousand dollars to take care of “her crisis”, to which she still refused to see him in person or speak with him over the phone, so he eventually returned back home. He didn’t tell anyone he did this until after it happened, which is usually the case. Unfortunately, even after all of that, he still refused to believe that he was being scammed, refused to listen to our pleas to stop all communication with this person, and still carried on with the “relationship” out of pride and desperation, not telling anyone. A few months back he finally revealed and admitted that it was in fact a scammer, as he had just been scammed out of over $50K and was filing bankruptcy after the scammer somehow convinced him to put them on his line of credit due to some other “crisis”, and maxed out everything, taking him for everything he had (which was barely anything to begin with), then deleted all accounts, lines of communication and deleted their existence. He still refuses to notify law enforcement, though I doubt at this point they wouldn’t be able to do anything. I’m sure we don’t even know the full extent of it. This isn’t even the first time he’s been scammed, as back when my grandmother was still alive 5+ years ago, he was scammed by the typical computer scammers who stole his information and locked him out of his computer, which forced him to buy a new computer. Living so many states away (and unable to travel due to medical reasons), there’s only so much we can do, especially with how stubborn he is (and how gullible), his refusal to accept people telling him hard truths and how he won’t accept help or advice in any form. It’s absolutely infuriating what these scammers do to the elderly. They have no conscience, humanity or morality, they are just pure evil monsters taking advantage of extremely vulnerable people. It’s absolutely disgusting. And it’s infuriating that because they are overseas, there’s really no avenue for justice or a way to hold them accountable. I can only find solace in the fact that one day, on their day of judgement, they will finally be held accountable for what they have done, and at that point it will be too late for them.

@@BhappyD I saw a documentary about "Romance scams", the lady was told and show that it wasn't real. But within a few minutes, even when the film crew was still there, she was back online seeking another "friendship", by responding to her emails. This is not a "Special Operation", this is war. Make an Admin account with a good password that the potential victim doesn't know, they can then call you if needed, revealing a problem.

@@BhappyD So sorry to hear this happened to your grandfather. It is so frustrating when everyone knows and warns the victim, who refuses to see what’s right in front of them. I had a friend who was a lady in her 50s who had a similar scam run on her with a fake Internet boyfriend. She eventually had to sell her home because he’d taken all the rest of her money, with one fake crisis after another. Her friends and family had told her it was a scam for months, but she just wouldn’t or couldn’t believe it. I tried a different angle, and asked her if she would really be happy with a man who was always getting into trouble. and who always needed her money to get out of it - wouldn’t she rather have a man who took care of her? I don’t know if that advice sank in but I do know that a few months later she had stopped talking to him.

How about doing both the drugs and saving scammer victims? It's like getting both to eat and have the cake.

Hey Chappy, it's JHawk. You're story is much like mine. My neighbor, a retired 80yo fbi agent with dementia, was scammed out of nearly 1mil (over time) of his life's savings. He ended his life passing from a stroke (because of this) and his lovely wife within a month took his service weapon to end her life. I LOOKED AFTER THESE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE AND STILL CRY OVER THIS!!!. Banks are slowly building in safeguards, but they are so annoying and repetitive, people skip through them, without reading, because of the pressure of the scammers. Gift Cards stands now have warning notices, but who takes the time to read them, "It can't be relevant to me, I'm trying to get my refund."

Kitboga is great but idk pleasant green has a special place as my favorite scammer interceptor. He makes it more entertaining without all the voices

American police can't do anything about criminals in India, Indian police are paid off by scammers so won't do anything to stop them

@@Nomercy721 They can do something, and maybe some already are: 1. Educate bank employees to ask questions when someone, especially the elderly, wants to wire transfer a large sum of money. 2. Educate retail store management to work with employees to be on the lookout for people, again especially elderly, trying to buy large quantities of gift cards. 3. Work with AARP to flood their members with info about scammers 4. FBI and Interpol work with vetted and respected scambusters like Perogi and Jim Browning to develop lists of scammer bosses so these bossesif tried to enter the US or Europe they would be arrested and face trial. I know that is much to ask, but it is a matter of priorities. Instead, local police are more interested in busting the guy with a dime bag of weed and the FBI is busy acting as political "dirt diggers" for whichever party happens to be in power at the time.

Please don't do this at home! They take a lot of precautions.

Theres an Army of us now & i for one am hell bent on getting the law changed in the UK i want the indian govt sanctioned - sanction the embassies remove the diplomatic immunity & lavish expenses & id even sling em out of the embassy make them work from a council house in Bradford ! Whats so annoying is the NSA work in the UK ( yes they are American) at RAF Fylingdales & GCHQ - they can shut down phones in minutes easy as anything - but EVERY CALL generates " useage of the system " that creates dividends for shareholders who are fat conservatve Eton boys destined to be MP`s & become a Lord when they reach a certain Weight !

You can't "block India". They'll just use a VPN and connect from a different country. Telco companies should deactivate number spoofing. This would help a lot so scammers can't make their calls look like they're coming from your bank or the police.
