Diorama building for the tabletop just got so much EASIER !! In todays video I make a Gondorian building for the Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game with a new system that is so easy it might just have changed the way I craft buildings for the tabletop! So many people want to make buildings like this for the table top, but not everyone has the time to develop the skills. This system for crafting buildings makes that whole process so simple that anyone with 1 cm thick XPS foam can do it! This building was made for Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game but the system is equally applicable to buildings and ruins for DND, Path Finder, Mordheim and Warhammer 40k etc

Thanks so much Kim! I am always in two minds about either posting a slower step by step video or videos where I just build and let the footage speak for it self if you know what I mean. I think there are a lot of resources showing the individual steps now available and I am always happy to answer questions if people want to know anything about the process. It's hard balance to find on youtube as people skipping to the part they need effects things so greatly... But these files are just so nice! I hope people really catch on with these :)

Cool system, making crafting accessible to a wider audience. Many probably were always interested in the crafting hobby, but never started due to busy lifestyle and figuring it takes too much time and dedication. Now, it might seem far less daunting. Quality work, especially with something that could be considered to be mass produced. Usually, that might make products less unique and lower quality, but you are proving that there’s versatility and creativity still within this system. When Albert becomes rich and famous through this, hope he remembers the little guys/gals who touted his work in the beginning. 😆 Nice shout outs, all well deserved & with many more still to come. Great to see wonderful regular community members, plus those in chat. Hope you’re keeping well, Michael & all.

I've seen a lot about these slice & slot prints lately, and everyone seems to love them. There is one drawback to them, however.... 1 cm XPS is virtually nonexistent in North America. In the southern regions you can sometimes get 1/2" XPS, but that is still way too thick for using these. Also, all our available foam core is way less than 1 cm thick. The maker should offer some options that fit other sizes of XPS and foamcore. Since you're buds, maybe you could mention this to him.

Now that I know the shape, and if I had all the files ready printed annnnnd if I had a free block of time I recon I could easily knock one out in less than 48 hrs.
@earthmanbrick
@earthmanbrick Жыл бұрын
@@Nat1videos Nice, when it comes to etching out bricks: I spent 5 minutes a day - on my work's breaktime - using a biro pen on a old polystrene pizza base. (spending longer than that is an easy way to get a cramp) After a week or so, I had a fully detailed cobblestone town square (well, more like a circle). Might be an idea to try something similar, especially since all you need is a pen & foam. I did end up doing sculpts during my work break too (great because the tactile exercise & taking your eyes away from the screen is a good practice). It's amazing what you can do in such a short period of time

@Nat1videos
@Nat1videos Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliment on the build :) Well each to their own I guess. For me there is a full range of things you can do... I model from scratch Also which I love. My Strategium tower I did in December was modelled completely from scratch. It's all a hobby and there is no competition so I guess these things are all just tools for people to enjoy stuff. I would say the reason not to just print the whole thing is because you can make your own shape and design to the building, you are literally just putting in windows and doors. To print the whole thing would cost a lot also. But like I say, I totally understand your perspective... 3D printing is not for everyone and that is totally cool! Everyone should enjoy their hobby in their own way. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment!!
