Not really. If your nice-looking card is that nice, you can for sure double or triple by having it graded. Buying nice raw cards and/or boxes and sending them for grading is the way to go!

$40-50 dollar per card for the cheapest is way too high, so I'm hoping you are wrong in that aspect. I think between $25-$35 is more reasonable, cause at $50 dollar per card, it would have to be a really nice card for me to even think about paying $50 bucks. Just my opinion especially when we are going from $9 to $12 per card before they shut down.
@TheComebackCardInvestor

trust me, I'm hoping for a $20-$30 option. I just won't count on it. The fact that they once charged $8 per card less than 2 years ago is unbelievable considering where we're at now

Spot on Brad! (Quit sharing the secret sauce!!! 😁) I adopted much of this strategy of buying raw since before PSA locked out their lower tiered services. Been going to the flippers tables at card shows and buying out their raw collection of the more potentially iconic players. $100-$150 per card has been the sweet spot for raw purchases where $30-$50 in grading costs can be absorbed and still turn a profit. I have also not hesitated in buying raw rookie cards in the $200-$400 range. With potential returns from these cards as a grade 9 or 10, I can absorb paying as much as $100 to grade each card. PSA will come back online with the Regular service in the upcoming weeks, but I am hopeful that they also bring back the Economy service level for cards that have a lower declared value ($500 and less) at some point in Q1 2022.

If PSA charge more $25 card. HGA, CSG, SGC are only going gain more market. Unless your flip slabs to finance bulk orders, Grading more then dozen cards for most is hard for average joe.
@TheComebackCardInvestor
@TheComebackCardInvestor 2 жыл бұрын
absolutely. Maybe PSA doesn't mind giving away the lower end stuff, but based on how ambitious they have been, I woulds imagine, they eventually offer a bulk service for HOPEFULLY $20-$30 per card. Have a great weekend, Nick!

@tubenachos 2 жыл бұрын
This is a tough one though, their business is also dependent on their set registry which collectors need to sub bulk to complete their sets. I think their lowest tier will be around $20-$25 per card to be competitive.

There's a market for everything, from mild to wild, from raw to graded. If your game is raw or graded cards to keep for your PC or flip to make a few bucks, stick to what you like and what is affordable to you and try to make it affordable to others. I'm a big fan of 70's through '00 baseball and basketball...so I generally stay in those lanes, and there are plenty of takers for that time period. Currently, grading appears to really only be affordable and time effective for most through HGA or SGC, at least today. Great video by the way, thank you!

I have been collecting cards for around 40 years now, and theres something l just dont understand. Why is there such a difference in the price between a p.s.a. 9 and a 10. So many times l have seen a 9 and a 10 together and without the number on the slab you could not tell which was which. I have also seen people bust a 9 slab, resend it to come back a 10. Therefore l had just rather have the 9 instead of the difference in the price. Especially when you your talking about high end cards. Just wanted to get your opinion on that subject. ( JUST ASKING.) THANKS 😊😊😊😊

I am a little late to the party Brad, but nice video. Hard to disagree, but I just can't see PSA offering anything lower than a $50/service and then a 6-month turn around. I have some luck using HGA and CSG, but you are so dependent on the grade.
@ttp9936
@ttp9936 2 жыл бұрын
I think the value right now is buying SGC 9.5s that are around the price of a PSA 9. You are basically getting a snapshot of the card's condition, and when $25-50 grading opens at PSA, you can take a shot at converting 9.5s into 10s. If the card got a 9.5 from SGC, you are almost assured it has no major print defects or surface issues, which gives you an advantage over buying raw cards, especially online. Pick up ten SGC 9.5s, submit all 10 to PSA, if you get five 10s and give 9s, you will come out way ahead.

My guess is that PsA drops a $30-50/. Card bottom/bulk tier and $50-75/ card being the standard tier. The only thing to keep in mind even if they come back at the lower end of those amounts is wether or not the turn around times make sense. Like stated in the video, rookies or 2nd year players you wouldn’t want to wait a year on because they may be garbage or injured and not worth the investment then or ever compared to longer term holds like 🐐

If PSA was able to profitably grade cards at $9/card, even with some inflation in the economy, there is no way they won’t be able to grade a card at $15 and make a ton of money. Sure it might be a year wait time but if they are for PC or HOF non rookie cards, I think it’ll be a great option for most people.
@rodriguezchen

PSA could corner the market to their advantage by offering $10 options even if it’s a year wait time and they chose not to. The incoming Fanatics takeover will wipe them out overnight in a few years

Really interesting that you think PSA is going to have layoffs. Unless they’ve mentioned that folks have been hired as contractors rather than full time, this seems like it’d be a poor business decision given the resources invested. We saw last spring how fast the card market reacts to news when PSA got flooded with the equivalent of 3 months of cards in a week. They could easily fill their cup back up almost overnight if they wanted to. I think what’s more likely is that PSA opens up a bulk tier again (with some restrictions on quantity per month) and then scale down naturally with attrition over time. My guess is in the next 6-12 months the announce a location in TX and all operations eventually transition there over the next 5 years.

I’ve though for several years PSA needed multiple locations. California ( current location, west coast) Kansas City ( geographic center of USA ) Florida ( west coast & south )

@@brandenolberding1897 I like the KC idea! Not sure how easy it’d be to recruit there (don’t know much about the area) versus the no income tax states of TX or FL but definitely a central location!

Hey Dave. I imagine they would have to downsize if they didn't offer something for the majority of cards out there, and only kept it high end..so I really hope a $20-$30 service is introduced at some point. However, with a lot of pre-2019 cards being sent there already, I wonder how much demand they'll have on ultra modern going forward. Great feedback!

I think right now there is a lot of opportunities in the 2020 nba class for raw because of the fact that grading is so expensive . Since the pops are artificially low getting a 10 is a homerun because the pops are so low and the demand for ball/ Edwards 10s are super high right now . Since psa has been shut down since the 2020 products that matter have came out people are just breaking and putting everything on eBay .

@@TheComebackCardInvestor I think right now the supply is so low on most of the guys getting a 9 is less then a 50 dollar loss and a 10 is a 1000 gain …. I’m just waiting for PSA or Bgs to open back up at a normal submission rate of $40-$50 a card. The pop report for base rookie cards will go down because less people are willing to spend that type of money on a single card. I’m happy about the increases rates because a base rookies cards will have long term value if the player pans out.
@TheComebackCardInvestor
@TheComebackCardInvestor 2 жыл бұрын
good point. It just becomes riskier when you get a PSA 9 instead of a 10. Also, once people see that a base RC in a PSA 10 is getting $300, then they'll flood PSA with those raw cards and then the numbers will go down. Always supply/demand at work! :)
