The egg commander would likely get banned. It doesn't make sense to me that someone who constantly asks for Tergrid to get banned for sucking the fun out of magic to create a commander that is literally a perpetual mind slaver.

Most of these aren't really tribal, they're just creatures of an uncommon type that don't benefit from playing in specific ways.

This isn't how commanders for tribes work. They're supposed to encourage tribal synergies, and 2 at best out of these would do so.

I want to humbly disagree with the design of most of those cards: "The three lionhearted pigs" is less of a pig tribal and more of a Temur tribal. I like that it fosters unusual deckbuilding, but I'm afraid it would lead to too commander-centric lines of play. When you don't have your commander, playing your cards feels bad because you are missing tons of value from your commander. When your commander is out, it's a very immediate death threat that needs quick answer from your opponents. You may end-up spending the whole game replaying your commander without casting your spells. My suggestion would be to replace the ability by "Tap, exile a card from your graveyard: create a 1/1 green pig if it's green. Pigs you control get flying until end of turn if it's blue. Pigs you control get +2/+0 until end of turn if it's red.". That way, it's okay to play your cards when your commander is not out. You have plenty to explore with self mill and, Temur cards, haste and untap effects. Your commander feels like less of a threat and may manage to spend a turn on the table. Cosmic Egg leads to the exact same issue as Iona: it says "target player can't participate anymore" in a format that's all about social and having fun together. My suggestion: The back could become an enchantment that says: "When an effect you control causes a player to draw one or more cards, create a clue token. When an effect you control causes a land an opponent controls to tap for additional mana, create a treasure token. When an effect you control causes a player to gain life, create a food token." It may not perfectly translate your intent, but still makes group hug interesting while providing synergies with cards like Reckless Fireweaver, Mayhem Devil, Xorn, Academy Manufactor, Inspiring Statuary and many more. I like how Xinqux reminds me of the starfish overlord in Suicide Squad 2. The card seems okay, but mind control is quite a hated mechanics that many people don't want to see more though. It's also quite un-practical when playing online. May I suggest a super death ray approach? The second ability could instead be "when a spell or ability you control should deal damage to a target, it deals one more damage for each starfish you control and you draw a card". It would lead to interesting situations to avoid dealing too much damage to Xinqux and regularly dealing tons of damage to the table. A big brain counter burn. Ogmeok may frequently lead to this situation: you reach 5 mana, you play it, you lose everything, it gets killed first thing by the next player, you scoop. How about: "You can only use mana from treasures to cast spells from your hand. When an opponent casts a spell, that opponent loses 1 life. Create a treasure token." It's less threatening so it may stick on the board, it still really changes your gameplay, it makes you want to play cards like Kenrith to have ways to spend your mana other than casting spells so it has an impact on your deckbuilding. The GOAT leads to a situation where other players have to constantly wrath your board or keep mana to deal with your commander at instant speed. If they don't, they lose. Even if they do, maybe you have vines of vastwoods and they still lose instantly. But the game is maybe far from over, so they will wait for the table to finish the game for long. This will give the whole table the feeling that when you play that deck they just can't play theirs. Your deck may feel very stifling. Also, there is 0 incentive to play goats with this commander, so it's not really a tribal. When I look at what other goats do in MtG, something funny may be: "The GOAT, 3/3 Tap: create a 0/1 white goat. Tap: goats you control get +2/+2. Tap, tap X goats you control: get control of X target creatures until end of turn. They gain haste until end of turn." This way, you have means to make goats, it's worth it to have goats generators, you can go for big swing, you can create cool synergies with sac effects, creatures from other players or untap / haste effects. It enables creative deckbuilding in a non smothering way.

Ogmeok is a prime example of why you run removal. They cast it, you swords it, they cry.

I'd love to see a Bant Kithkin commander. I know that excludes Figure of Destiny, but maybe that's for the best.

A really cool bonus for the star fish would be to reduce its mana cost by 1 colourless for each starfish you control. That way it won't be too punishing early game.

While Spirits have lots of options for commanders, I really wish there was an Esper Spirit commander. Espers commanders in general seem pretty lacking.

Every once in a while, we get a tribe that doesn't have a LC for Commander. Watching this made me think of one. No idea on a name, but it's a Wall, with Defender. Basically, an old wizard died in his tower; maybe naturally, maybe someone buried him in the wall, and his essence infused the location. Now, it sort of works like a powerful mana-dork; he can't fight, or cast spells, but he can channel mana for other uses, and maybe produce the stray things a wizard might have in his tower, such as spells (instants and sorceries), objects (artifacts), etc.

I love the comsic egg except I think the flip side is just way too powerful and unfun. If it loses the "you control enchanted player" title and possibly have the activation be done by any player that could be more interesting.

The Starfish commander should be dimir instead of izzet to include all existing Starfish.

They already came out with a commander for all of the other tribes that didn't get a tribal commander and it's called Morophon, The Boundless. Mark Rosewater actually said he was sick of everybody saying that "this tribe needs commander or this tribe needs a commander", so he made a creature that could be used for any tribal commander deck.

not a tribe but energy counters need a dedicated commander, preferably 5C so that you can play all the fun energy cards.

That dauthi commander could do with running the enchantment Dauthi embrace: two black give target creature shadow... "But my creatures already have shadow? Why would you run that?" Because you can use it to give your opponents creatures shadow and block them! Also it's fun to help opponents swing at each other!

Cosmic egg looks super cool on the frontside. In my opinion is the backside too strong and not fun. What about the backside is shrouded and indestructible but it has the effects "Whenever enchanted player puts a land into play the owner of this card may put up to one land into play." and " Whenever enchanted player plays a spell from their hand enchanted player and the owner of this card may copy that spell (permanent spells become tokens)". In my opinion more fun for the table and reason people would want to risk reaching the requirement on the egg. Nonetheless very cool ideas and super cool video! Would love to see more of these videos!!!

I love the idea for the egg, except the life total requirement. As soon as somebody has that card as their commander, all the other players will agree to ping each other down to around 30 or less life to essentially negate this card

To make it a leech commander it should say "non leech creatures" Also, most Dauthi creatures already gave shadow, so it would be better if it said something like "creatures with shadow can block as thought they didn't have shadow" Edit: and with that goat at the end... Yeah, this wasn't a tribal episode, just custom commander episode.

Personally I would like to see a chimera or Drake commander, but a better gorgon matters commander would be nice to

Wall of shards would work very well for the cosmic egg. Defending you from agro you might pull while making sure someone meets the life requirement. Good for politics and it's nearly budget too.

Xinqux is incredibly strong with Meishin the Mind Cage. Depending on your hand size you can gain of all creatures on the battlefield because you can just sacrifice 0 starfish to gain control of a creature with power 0 or less. Maybe it should be sacrifice "X+1 starfish"? Because gaining control of all 0 powered creatures without cost can be incredibly busted.

You should do an EDH-gameplay episode in which you play the commanders in this video. Don't know if Wizards would block you forever but if not that would be amazing.

Xinqux is a cool reference to the suicide squad movie but I think the on theme design for a starfish commander aught to have a tap ability that influences cards in your library as that’s what the rest of the starfish creatures do, or have some way to play with untapping creatures.

I'd want a Gorilla commander that gives out the Rampage, mechanic. Rampage gives the creature +X/+X where X is the number of creatures blocking after the first. Haven't seen this mechanic in a very long time.

But wait, if they actually do something like the three lionhearted pigs, and turn it into a revisit of "Imminence", would actually be a really good commander!

I think I would put the Cosmic Egg with Kenrith, the Returned King. Being 5c there are ways to get around the max hand size issue.

The egg commander has a really obvious problem; as soon as it transforms, the target player will almost certainly scoop in response, so you get NO mindslaver turns.

Takots is the perfect commander for Stronghold Overseer. It's a pity that Stronghold Overseer isn't legendary itself because it would be a great commander as well.

How about a commander that needs a tribe? With the introduction of Toxrill, the Corrosive; slugs now needs to be a playable tribe. There are very few slugs out there to add to a Toxrill commander deck. So MTG needs more slugs.

The three lionhearted pigs seem really powerful. With a couple of green cantrips will you can get a massive army. Even casting two red spells you can end up giving like three to five creatures +4/+0 until end of turn. Also why aren’t they knights Overall does to much for its cost.

What kind of commander are we talking about? Just a good legendary creature to build around or one with true tribal synergies? Demons and Horrors for instance lack a commander with tribal synergies as far as I know despite having loads of cards. Anyway, my favourites would be Phoenix, Myr and Nightmare, something uniting the Eldrazi or Phyrexia would be nice, too.

Blue feels weird for pigs. Red/Green fit right in, and I know you want flying pigs, but you can just make a tribal enchantment that makes them dragon pigs and gain flying.

Fun fact: Pig is the just name for a female boar I'm pretty sure Like how cattle are cows and bulls

dauthi overlord goes into the 99. it becomes a combat trick similar to overrun but in black. what's this? you have blockers for my army of infect/voltron commander/horde of zombies whatever, well, now they all have shadow, good luck blocking your doom

That egg commander does not sound fun to play against at all. Once it flips you just lose the game, so there's not point in not just conceding right then and there. Its cheap initial cost combined with those effects is just kind of annoying.

What's the point of the Dauthi commander design? If he gives everything shadow, creatures that already have shadow are the LAST thing you'd put in the deck. He's actively punishing you for playing any other Dauthi in the deck

Assault formation, or Arcades, the Strategist and cosmic egg sounds kinda nasty tbh. Boosting an egg to be able to attack and be nearly impossible to remove.
