It’s the 50th episode of The Airgun Show, and we’re hide shooting for woodpigeons - with the chance of crows, too. Mat Manning explains the benefits of a semi-permanent hide, and shows how to use decoys to tempt incoming birds within range.
Up for review this week is the BSA Scorpion SE, in camouflage stock guise. This top-end multi-shot PCP combines slick shooting with low-key concealment, thanks to its Realtree Xtra handle.
And, to celebrate our half-century, we’re offering you the chance to win a brilliant Tracer Ledray F600 lamping kit in a free competition. Tune in for full details.

Many congratulations on your 50th episode. As near as I can tell, I've seen them all. I really enjoyed the pigeon shoot segment, because it reminded me so much of what I did with my Daisy model 880 as a teenager (55 now) on my Grandparents farm here in Indiana U.S.A. Keep up the great shows Mr Manning, and I look forward to watching at least another 50, or more episodes in the future. Bionicycle A.K.A. William C.

You would be astounded if you had filled the gun to 190 bar and used Air Arms Field 5.52mm pellets.I got 60 shots at 11.2 ftlb and well under an inch at 50 yards.The Scorpion SE really is one of BSA,s best PCP air rifles.

if u ever get over to south Louisiana, let me know and we will try out your hand on our pigeons and doves. I have a gamo that works pretty good on them and squirrels. Rabbits are a little bit more spooked on this side of the pond.
@TheWatchmen001
@TheWatchmen001 8 жыл бұрын
my gamo makes a kinda loud report. the crack is close to a 22cal long riffle cartridge. this does present problems when trying to stay quiet. they make a suppressor for my gun. gamo also makes some silenced riffles with good power. mine is 177 also.

Enjoyable shooting again Mat. I am wondering, do you have a break barrel rifle that maybe you could use on an 'outing' sometime soon ? I enjoy shooting with a couple of Gas Ram type break barrel rifles, and am thinking that there must be other viewers out there who would like to see some of this 'action' too. Thanks for this week's video.
@theshootingshow
@theshootingshow 8 жыл бұрын
+Reg Sparkes Thanks Reg. Good point about break-barrels. I tend to opt for PCPs most of the time because the people who grant me shooting permission are mostly interested in getting rid of pests, and I find pre-charged guns provide me with the most effective means of doing that. Have to agree that break-barrels are more fun to shoot, though - will have to put in some practice and try to get out with one soon. All the best, Mat.

+Phil stone Hi Phil. Pigeon breast is a very dark meat with a strong flavour, which is probably best compared to steak - it's certainly beefy. I tend to cut it into chunks and treat is like stewing steak - it's great in pies and casseroles. All the best, Mat

BSA Scorpion SE. Barrel is good quality but mine had to be recrowned on a lathe as it was crap machining from the factory. The breech block is made of paint sprayed cheap Chinesium Alloy. Paint chips off really easily and your scope mounts "WILL" remove the paint. Pellet probe has poor quality chroming and runs in a soft Nylon sleeve. The latching mechanism on the cocking bolt tends to wear after a while and the cocking bolt starts to jump when firing. Latching is just a ball bearing and a spring that rusts. It sits in a divet on the Pellet Probe. As i said it tends to wear through the chrome pretty quickly. After that its metal on metal and it just gets worse. The stocks are beautiful though. Even the Beech ones are finished to a high level. No regulator either. Mine was great from 190 bar down to 120bar which gave me approx 25 super accurate shots with JSB Heavies. Outside of that band and accuracy suffered. Its a cheap option as Air Rifles go. There you go. A real accurate review.
