Go Go Go Jo! Joseph (Donny Osmond) finds a new lease of life, inspired by the inmates incarcerated within Potiphar's jail!
From 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' (1999): Inspired by the record breaking London Palladium production, this version stars Donny Osmond, Maria Friedman, Richard Attenborough and Joan Collins. I find it hysterical how Joseph basically tells the chef "yeah, you're gonna die" and then everybody just starts dancing and singing this upbeat song haha. That poor chef, man, that poor chef. Also wtf that lady singing between the butler's legs? XD I love this movie/musical. Makes sense though, Joseph's interpretations of the dreams. Not sure why they needed him to explain them though lol, to me they were pretty straightforward. Serving the pharaoh wine is obviously a good omen because you're serving wine to the KING OF EGYPT. Meanwhile, a bunch of birds eating all your bread is probably bad because it probably means your luck has run out and you will soon find yourself with nothing. Or death, in the case of the chef lol. Also I find it hilarious how the chef is dressed like your stereotypical modern-day chef but obviously back then I dunno what chefs wore in Egypt but not that lol.

I was fortunate to see the first American production of Joseph at the Ford Theater in the summer of 1980 (4-H trip at the national center in Chevy Chase). Then I saw Donny in the early 90's at the start of this production, they were in Minneapolis to start and were there several months. Great to see how they keep on adding layers of costume and production everytime they do it.

Joseph is at his lowest point. Even the other slaves feel bad for him. But when they see him demonstrate his gift of dream interpretation, they are amazed and are like “don’t worry Joshep, you’ll go far in life”. They then celebrate with a seventies style disco party. I think this is how people dressed in the seventies.

@@Myself23512 Yes! I like how Andrew Lloyd Webber followed the original bible story so closely, in addition to the modern re-imagining, no details are lost or overlooked. Also it's more mid-to-late '60s fashion (look up mod, Carnaby Street, Mary Quant, etc.) but I can kind of see some disco influence too.
