What Happened to King Deshret? (Genshin Theory and Speculation)

King Deshret was a God-King who ruled over Sumeru alongside Nabu Malikata and Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. However, there are still a lot of questions surrounding him that need to be answered. In this video, I go over his story so far, and why I think he isn't truly dead.

A bit of clarification: Greater Lord Rukkhadevata only separated ways with King Deshret *after* Nabu Malikhata died, and it was because King Deshret fell into madness and misery for his friend and love interest's death that it even affected his rule towards his people. In an effort to save their people, Greater Lord Rukkhadevata left for western Sumeru along with her devoted followers and created an entire rainforest and the Wall of Samiel to prevent the desertification of their forest.

I’d rather they never reveal what Deshret or the GoF looks like. It would never live up to what I’ve already imagined them to be, especially with Hoyo’s aversion to skin darker than the color of sand. That said, I absolutely would love to get more Deshret and Desert lore. Sumeru’s lore has been freaking stellar so far and nothing else in the game surpasses it imho

@zeronhun not exactly. It's true that Nilou's costume is based on what the GoF is said to have worn + the horns, but for all we know, Nilou herself could look nothing like what Nabu actually looked like. Besides that, Nilou herself is a rather plain looking girl, even if she is cute. I'd expect Nabu Malikata to be much more beautiful and hopefully more adult looking. Something closer to the Elite Eremite ladies.

@brooklyns.b.3570 I know Alhaitham being related to Deshret is a popular theory, but I really don't get it because aside from Alhaitham's eyes, he has 0 ties to Deshret, the Eremites or even the desert. Not to knock your idea of what Deshret looks like, of course. You do you. Personally, I imagine him looking like a more regal and refined version of the Stone Enchanter Eremite guy. Larger than life, built like a champion, beautiful brown skin, and a full head of tight, jet black curls adorned with golden accessories. He'd have smokey eyes with a piercing gaze, and his voice is deep and powerful. A true King! But that's the beauty of them not revealing what he looks like. You can have the version of him you've thought up, and I can have mine. It's really all I have in this game.

It's crazy to think of how the gods all tie together in some way but King Deshrets dream doesn't sound too far off of Baals desire to keep her land the same forever. She wanted to shelter her people and grant them immortality and never have what happened to her people in the past happen again. King Deshrets wanted to keep everyone safe and prosperous but I think he lost his way when he touched forbidden knowledge but I wonder why Celestia didn't just attack him and sumeru like they did dragonspine and Khaneria

[LEAKS] Somehow after the description of one of the two 4.6 artifact sets got leaked which was about Remuria, i feel even more interested in Deshret since we learn that Remus was a Sumerian and was known as the Oasis singer, which make more sense as to why Remuria's lore sounded so similar to the desert one and the mention of Gurabad in the 4.0 book about Remuria also make more sense, he also got kicked out by Deshret himself for i forgot why

Also, it seems like Cyno SQ part 2 is also coming, so there has to be more Deshret lore cooking. Some leaks showed images of his ruins, ones that has Anubis-like statues (would make sense if it's the god who gave Cyno his powers), it might even be the fabled temple of silence. But a few images was all to it so who knows what's actually gonna happen. Either way, I'm hyped af

@@MrAidaslit Cyno's second SQ is 100% sure to drop some lore about deshret, i just know Cyno's ancestors were from some royal family during the seven cities states era, and obviously the divine spirit dwelling within him

in the book called "history of decline and fall of remuria" 1st vol written that king remus arrived at the time Gurabad was already founded. after the death of king deshret, desert people and the seven pillar (who serve the deshret) scatter around building their own cities (there were over 100 cities in desert) resulting war between city states begun. so, king remus was likely one of the seven pillars who left sumeru at chaotic time. there is a book (i forgot the name) in sumeru that's about a port city became an empire by conquering cities on several islands. the book might refering to remuria.

I HIGHLY doubt that Deshret is THE Sinner. The Sinner is omniscient as they see US inside our sibling's mind while we're reliving their past. Deshret is Not that powerful. It's more likely that The Sinner is the Second Who Came. As they had beef with the Primordial One and likely the Heavenly Principles

Irmin or Nibelung are better candidates for the sinner but i do think he's alive mainly because his thematic parallels like Kaveh and Rene survibe their ill fated plans. Also it would be extremely cool for us to fight a god king.

I'm convinced that Phanes, Deshret, Remus, and Irmin are actually all the same outlander human, suffering from the curse of immortality and erosion as a result of being dethroned by the Second Descender.

But remember that AFTER the war of vengeance, Phanes was badly injured and could no longer maintain control over the world, so he had to make the Gnoses. I suspect that he somehow lost his Descender status after that war with the Second Descender.

@@DrakeWurrum That probably shook his resolve but the fact that he made the gnosis implies he still had a will to control the world. Tbh there is too little evidence to conclude he lost that status, based on Nahida's statement I see no reason to believe he lost the descender title.

i like the theory of king deshret that he is a reincarnation of alhaitham (i notice many symbol of sumeru desert that have related to alhaitham cloths). Another thing deshret is most powerful god in sumeru and alhaitham is the most powerful dendro dps very sus

I don't know why people seem interested in Deshret. The most important thing he ever did was get eaten by Apep. He's Nabu Malikata's Ken doll. No, I am serious - why does the Sumeru equivalent of Decarabian get so much attention? Why do people think his story has any future ramifications? Of the three Sumeru gods he appears the least interesting, and the most dead. Goddess of Flowers has "future lore" written all over her. Nahida's at least going to be continued to be updated a little.

u did not just compare deshret to decarabian... the fact that deshret has dedicated followers even until this day, magnificent buildings and mechanisms which still work perfectly fine and yes it became an obsession but his goal was truly for the betterment of humanity. hes obviously very important in genshin lore and his popularity doesnt suprise me at all considering hes almost everywhere you come across in sumeru. meanwhile this random storm god trapped his own people into a windy circle.
