I've always felt Lisa and Nelson made a good couple. Nelson tries to be a better person every time he's dating her. He defends her from other bullies. he pays back bart for all the money he stole. He even became best friends with bart. Plus him and bart seem like better friends that Bart and Milhouse.

Nelson is definitely the best of Lisa's suitors for two reasons: 1. He isn't a Nice Guy like Milhouse we are supposed to feel sorry for. 2. He isn't a pretty boy tailor-made for Lisa, he's an actual character with actual personality.

I'm convinced Lisa's eventual deep investment in Nelson is rooted in her relationship with Bart: somebody she knows for whole life as unpolished and disobedient, yet kind and caring in the core of his heart, and which back she always can have, so unknowing to her, her *actual* model of perfect man was shaped by it, and that's why she guessed there being more to Nelson, who has overall similar behavior, than meets eye. (But she, probably, isn't inclined to analize it to save herself from embarrassement and taking it, maybe, too close to heart.)

Can't believe im saying this...but Nelson is a great choice for Lisa. The man actually shows care for her after his adolescence and becomes successful later in life. Milhouse is just a sicklier version of his dad.

Milhouse would be a bad partner for Lisa. I don't think Milhouse's creepiness and weirdness shouldn't be rewarded.

Nelson and Lisa is one of my all time favorite ships. They help one another grow so much and challenge each other in interesting ways. her being stuck with Milhouse seems like such an unhappy fate and Lisa doesn’t deserve that.

Agreed. Nelson and Lisa really complement each other and would seem to have a healthy relationship. She seems to care for him for who he is and could be while he is willing to better himself for her. Compare that to Milhouse where it seems any affection she has is conditional. Also, I never realized she was wearing his vest in that scene.

why hasn't anyone noticed that Lisa+Nelson is basically the junior version of Marge+Homer? Marge the brainy, shy high school girl meets and "tutors" Homer. a mess ensues and they end up together. Lisa the brainy, shy tween girl meets and falls for the junior version of her father in Nelson. of Course they were supposed to end up together... no matter What milhouse thinks.

In the episode “I Love Lisa”, I always get goosebumps when Ralph says “NEVER!” In the play. He did do a good job.

I honestly love Collin. It's great to see an Irish character who isn't a paddywhackery fueled stereotype.

I find it ironic that the first episode of Nelson was him & his lackeys bullying Lisa and having Bart stick up for her just to be bullied as well. But now, Lisa & Nelson r very romantically close and Bart & Nelson are close buddies

I have never liked Lisa or Bart having romances. Lisa especially as she is just 8 years old. Having a crush on her substitute teacher makes some sense at that age but going on dates just feels like the writers are pushing her into the teenage territory out of a lack for good ideas. Same for Bart even if he is two years older.

I feel Nelson was one of the few characters with actual growth

I knew that Nelson would be the best choice for Lisa. After all, she was the first girl to make Nelson understand that beneath his tough exterior, there was a vulnerable boy inside yearning to be loved…. Even if it was just temporary before he went back to hang with the other bully boys………. I think after all these years, Nelson will always have a special place in his heart for Lisa…… And I know that there are times he sticks up for Bart as well. That’s just my humble opinion.

Nelson is also my number one for Lisa. With Colin right behind. I'm a bit disappointed that since the movie he Was never seen again.

Yes yes yes! They both truly have a genuine friendship and caring for one another That's very cute. She doesn't look down on nelson and in turn he looks out for her. I wish more future episodes would show them together

I’m really sad that Lisa married milhouse, they have nothing in common and when she actually liked him it he had a different personality or when she feels sorry for him. She deserves way much more

Great choices for the suitors; had to be Nelson in the top spot. I feel like they have a certain equilibrium where they level each other off. The beauty in Homer's cufflinks is in the sentiment of him giving them to Hugh for the wedding, and how much they obviously mean to him.

Y'know Milhouse and Lisa's relationship is adorable at times, and other times it's creepy. I chalk this up to inconsistent writing.

I would Rank Ralph as the second best. If Lisa actually liked Ralph, there would be deep parallels with Lisa falling for someone like her father. Millhouse was much worse than Hugh... Hugh never committed Arson or tried to get her through lies

While I don't think they'd work out long-term. I think Lisa and Nelson is way more interesting than the shows weird instance that she settled for Milhouse. Like nelson at least tries to better himself for her, they just aren't compatable deep down. He's the ex she accidentally had a kid with, but their on friendly terms and make decent co-parents. I could see her long-term partner being someone she met in college... Most like a girl

IMO I don't think Lisa really needs to marry anyone, I find her to be quite strong by herself and she can achieve about anything. Its like the opposite life of what Marge could have lived, choosing to make a family over having a career.

Unpopular opinion: I don't like Nelson/Lisa very much. In the episode she had learned that you can't force someone to change if that person isn't willing to. And Nelson didn't seem very interested in Lisa before the kiss, he didn't respected her hobbies. And she seemed to like more the idea of her "changing his bad boy personality" than her actually like his bad boy personality. I don't think Lisa-Milhouse is a good couple, but I don't like that the authors write Lisa as Milhouse's "victim" and put all the blame of her misery on him: no one forced Lisa to date/marry that guy. And I don't understand how she needs someone to settle up with. And she also ruined his relationship with another girl out of jealousy. Lisa doesn't need to choose between Nelson and Milhouse, she can date other guys or just stay single. Edna didn't choose between Skinner or CBG, so why should Lisa?

I got to be honest. As somebody who had seen multiple times the episode that Lisa dated him, I really did not expect him to be the number one best. But I don't remember that future episode when she was with him so maybe that was why I didn't expect it. I know I saw a future episode like 6 years ago and remember that Abe Simpson was preserved by some freezing cell or something, but I don't remember who Lisa was with in that episode
