foolishness. We have been meat-eaters for millions of years. Don't eat meat at all, watch your health and immunity go downhill. Everything in moderation. "BEEF ITS WHAT'S FOR DINNER!"""". I went vegan two years ago and not only am i "fine" I'm thriving, but most importantly I'm not paying for a multi billion animal a year holocaust because of "tradition" or because it is "yummy". You know what they also did millions of years ago? Didn't wipe, didn't use a cell phone, didn't have scientists, didn't have a computer, didn't have laws. Are you just going to pick and choose what parts of tradition suit you? Plus, just because we ate meat millions of years ago doesn't mean that it is healthy. I prefer to live in 2022 where we know that "beef" is codenamed for dead cow flesh and animal products are rubbish for your health, the animals, and the planet. Also, slaughterhouses, artificial insemination, the dairy, testing, fur, leather, breeding have never been this large scale as they have been in the last hundred years so that "tradition" argument gets thrown out the window. Plus, these are sentient beings like you and I, I wouldn't want what happens to them to happen you or me or anyone. It's needless and cruel, consume and use plants. In this respect, fuck tradition.

I know that "The Queen is Dead" is their most beloved album, but this is MY favorite. There are are so many "heartfelt" songs on here for me than to just toss it off and jump on the "Queen is Dead" bandwagon. This album gets a hell of a lot more intense than their others. God knows, I love and I miss the Smiths to this day. They helped me to get through my own stupid angst during my 20's and not knowing what to do with myself. 30 years later, and I'm still singing along and listening and remembering. They were Godsent. (Morrisey would have a hissy fit if he heard me say that)!

The Queen Is Dead - like Sgt Peppers - arrived at the peak of the band’s impact on the wider culture outside of obsessive fans, plus key songs had a triumphant feel. So those albums become the most symbolic, then lazily assumed to be the best by non-fans, which gives new listeners a place to start, but that’s all. Meat Is Murder is it’s own world, flawless, effervescent, perfect.

Jesus mother of mary holy joseph they were geniuses. Such pure unapologetic creative force. I discovered the Smiths rather late, when I was living in Japan, and it became my soundtrack for that strange land. Every time I hear one of those tracks, it takes me back to riding a bicycle with one hand on the bars and the other holding an umbrella veering on and off the street to avoid the old lady walls (the old ladies would block the entire width of the sidewalk walking elbow to elbow).
