Bigmouth Strikes Again was featured on the groups third studio album, The Queen is Dead. It peaked at No.25 in the UK Singles Chart and was also the closing track on the bands only live album, Rank.
Lyrics
Sweetness, sweetness I was only joking
When I said I'd like to smash every tooth
In your head
Oh...sweetness, sweetness, I was only joking
When I said by rights you should be
Bludgeoned in your bed
And now I know how Joan of Arc felt
Now I know how Joan of Arc felt
As the flames rose to her roman nose
And her Walkman started to melt
Oh...
Bigmouth, la...bigmouth, la...
Bigmouth strikes again
And I've got no right to take my place
With the Human race
Oh, bigmouth, la ... bigmouth, la
Bigmouth strikes again
And I've got no right to take my place
With the Human race
And now I know how Joan of Arc felt
Now I know how Joan of Arc felt
As the flames rose to her roman nose
And her hearing aid started to melt
Bigmouth, la...bigmouth, la...
Bigmouth strikes again
And I've got no right to take my place
With the Human race
Oh...
Bigmouth, oh...bigmouth, la...
Bigmouth strikes again
And I've got no right to take my place
With the Human race
Oh...
Bigmouth, oh...bigmouth, la...
Bigmouth strikes again
And I've got no right to take my place
With the Human race
Oh...
Bigmouth, oh...bigmouth, la...
Bigmouth strikes again
And I've got no right to take my place
With the Human race
Oh...

The amount of layering of Johnny Marr’s guitars on this track is nothing short of legendary, the combination of the acoustic guitar, the electric and the slide guitar, if there’s one song to be Marr’s guitar opus, it’s this song

This album gets better every time i play it. You can't really understand how good is it, until you realize the huge influence and the context where has been made. Sadness, isolation, disillusion, sarcasm, irreverence, mental disease, rejection for the establishment (political, musical), in an album that sounds incredibly well. One of the finest and most melodic voice, supported by sharp guitars and an accurate rhyhtm section.

[LYRICS] Sweetness, sweetness I was only joking When I said I'd like to smash every tooth In your head Oh oh oh Sweetness, sweetness, I was only joking When I said by rights you Should be bludgeoned in your bed And now I know how Joan of Arc felt Now I know how Joan of Arc felt As the flames rose to her Roman nose And her Walkman started to melt Bigmouth, la-da-da-da-da, bigmouth, la-da-da-da Bigmouth strikes again And I've got no right to take my place With the human race Oh oh oh oh oh Bigmouth, la-da-da-da-da, bigmouth, la-da-da-da Bigmouth strikes again And I've got no right to take my place With the human race And now I know how Joan of Arc felt Now I know how Joan of Arc felt As the flames rose to her Roman nose And her hearing aid started to melt Bigmouth, la-da-da-da-da, bigmouth, la-da-da-da Bigmouth strikes again And I've got no right to take my place With the human race Oh oh oh oh oh Bigmouth, la-da-da-da-da, bigmouth, la-da-da-da Bigmouth strikes again And I've got no right to take my place With the human race Oh oh oh oh oh Bigmouth, oh oh oh oh, bigmouth, la-da-da-da Bigmouth strikes again And I've got no right to take my place With the human race Oh oh oh oh oh Bigmouth, la-da-da-da-da, bigmouth, la-da-da-da Bigmouth strikes again And I've got no right to take my place With the human race

We really did have the best music back in the '80s! There were so many genres and sub genres of music and they were all so amazing! No wonder so many of us are pining for the past and longing to go back even for one minute. That life seems like a million years ago but then sometimes it feels like yesterday. When I hear a song like this it's almost like I am back in that time and place. ❤❤❤❤
