In New York or Northeast in general, there are plenty of options for great roads to drive on. New York wise, drive an hour out of the city into upstate and you've got great winding roads and elevation to drive on. Literal endless amount because you could keep driving upstate for hours. Go into Vermont, or New Hampshire and there are also plenty of windy fun roads.

I have a cheap fwd scion tc and driving upstate is still fun. Up hill I don't have power to do much, but down hills and windy roads are fun as heck.

Got my dream job working at Ford as a product design engineer. Loved the company, but couldn’t do the terrible roads and cold weather. Lasted 2 years and now I’m in Southern California where the weather is agreeable and some of the best canyons to cruise are 20 min from my house. I will never go back to the Midwest.

Winter gets a little long in the tooth by February...key is to find something fun to do. Snowmobiling in Northern Michigan is amazing. Allegiant to PHX or ORL is cheap, just get out of town for a few days. Helps immeasurably.

33:40 I think Matt is referring to I-285 that loops around Atlanta, which had a ridiculous 55 mph speed limit that everyone ignored. Here's the video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hdV1h7B01Nm5fIU.html . Not sure how much this protest helped, but now the speed limit is either 65 or variable (35 - 65 mph) now.

a 3 pedal manual ev is probably only a practical solution in custom swaps, where an electric motor available at a low price could benefit from higher mechanical advantage at low speeds and the extension of its possibly narrower RPM window to raise the top speed. But a manually shifted sequential of some sort could be a very neat setup in a sports car, it'd allow a cheaper motor design since it wouldn't need the same high torque capacity and massive RPM range to have good acceleration as well as high top speed. No clutch pedal would be needed at all, as the only time you need it in a sequential ICE car is from a stop anyways and that's not a concern with electric. Just start in first gear and it goes. Plus, the motor control unit could likely be tuned to allow the development of a sequential that doesn't need frequent servicing like almost all race transmissions do now, as torque cut could be so instantaneous and complete. And to top it off, I think it'd be of massive benefit to the driving experience as then you'd have a reference of your speed, one of the things most ev's lack currently that I find disconcerting. it'd bring back that rhythm and flow of shifting any ICE sports car.

Matt just start back on indica dab pens and hit them very lightly and not very often will help you with so many calories from drinking.. I’m having the same problem and just sharing what’s been working for me. Low thc indica. Small hits. And you won’t find yourself drinking so many calories

That comment about downshifting for the torque peak is silly. You also mostly downshift because your motor (ICE or electric) makes more power at higher RPMs. That's why the Taycan has a launch gear in the back for example. That comment about the Air passing as the new DS is perfect.

On the point about Toyota and EVs with manual transmissions, I can see the point in when battery tech is light and vehicles require less hp. I can imagine Japan specifically mandating vehicle weight leading to EV KEI cars with small 50 hp motors with gears for highway.

The cameras are placed 15ft above ground and the limit is 85db according to NY DEP, fines are astronomical as well. This really doesnt sound like a well executed plan and sounds like a total money grab.

The whole, "there's no good roads in Michigan" shtick needs to stop, or at least be amended. There's no great roads in the Detroit area. You could spend days in the Traverse City area and northward, finding amazing roads to bomb down. Yes, you'll need to dodge a deer, possibly a bear or porcupines, but in the fall its some of the best driving and scenery available in the lower 48. Michigan does not equal "Detroit" or Ann Arbor; they just happen to be in Michigan too, 5hrs away from the best parts.

It's called lightning lap and he just referred to one of the vehicles in the show as a school bus, can we just leave the suvs out of this test. Do an only suv lightning lap -- otherwise It dilutes the product with shit that shouldn't be there. Make a new series. Cheers
