DRAMATIC footage shows an iconic World Cup football stadium left completely flooded after torrential rain battered Brazil for days.
The "apocalyptic" floods have caused massive destruction in the southern part of the country and have killed at least 100 people.
As the heavy rainfall hit the country, Brazil's Estádio Beira-Rio has closed after being caught up in the state's Rio Grande do Sul "worst disaster."
Shocking drone footage shows the stadium submerged underwater after the devastating deluge that swamped Brazil.

As always, ours are the highest tax rates in the world, and still the government is extremelly inneffective... so why pay so much taxes then? I saddly have to use this tragedy as an argument for an smaller state... if in this moments we are alone and dependent on other civilians... why spend more than 150 days of work purelly on taxes then? we could be using that money to develop ourselves and maybe preparing for such events ourselves if we will need to rely on civilian help anyway.

The scary part of this is this wasn’t a hurricane or typhoon, but a heavy seasonal rain. If it had been a hurricane or typhoon the TV weather reporters would have warned the people of the impending disaster. The TV weather reporters warned of very heavy rain, which most people believed that it wouldn’t be so bad. Global Warming made a normal seasonal rain much worse!

Unbelievable is the Brazilian government doing nothing to help on rescue or sending money to the affected areas. In addition to this, the Brazilian army was blocking roads and preventing volunteers to help in the rescues. If this is not enough, the transportation agency was giving fines for trucks loaded with food donations. Truckers got fines for overweight while the truck could support at least another 20 tons of supply.

@@RosaLoureco yeah they did,,, but when? how many days had passed until they arrived? And you can see they weren't prepared at all... most of them are sidewalk painters and we all know it... We pay so much... ours is the highest tax rate in the world now... and when disasters like this happen the help is so slow... they are paid to plan ahead and have contigency plans... floods happen every year... this one was just a lot bigger. Civil help was far more responsive, on the second day after the disaster started we already had civil helicopters, drones and people halping, supplies coming from other states... while the government are still discussing help packages... c'mon stop defending these politicians bruh!

Some friends here in the UK asked me if I knew that Brazil was flooded. I know that many people don't, but Brazil is gigantic. To illustrate this, the territory of the United Kingdom would fit inside the state of São Paulo, which is smaller than Rio Grande do Sul. Rio Grande do Sul is the ninth largest Brazilian state among the 26 states + DF. This doesn't diminish the catastrophe that occurred there, I'll explain it to make it easier for you to understand. So we can say that it would be 70% of 1/27 and not the whole country!

Due to the flood, Rio Grande do Sul lost a large part (all) of the areas of harvesting/planting grains/seeds. Markets all over the country (I live in the interior of Rio de Janeiro), are without rice. My mother found rice at the market costing 50 reais. $ about 30 to 40 reais more than the normal price. DOEM! There were two hurricanes in the south. Something that is not common in most parts of the country but has been happening in the south of Brazil in recent years. (Due to its geographical position, Brazil is far from tectonic plates and therefore natural disasters such as earthquakes or hurricanes do not happen.) But it happened yesterday (with winds of 120 kilometers per hour). This just shows us that climate change is happening! And it's not just here. This flood is already the biggest since 1940. The river has overflowed its banks and a dam is at risk of collapsing. the authorities said that perhaps in 30 days the water will begin to recede. But today, it started raining again and the waters rose significantly. People need help. Houses are completely underwater. We have never received as many donations as we do now. This is the third flood this year and will certainly go down in history. - Global Warming/Global Boiling, whatever they call it, is really happening. Yesterday and the day before yesterday there was visible fog in parts of my city, Macaé/RJ.

@@numberse7en233 If you observe in the Bible, specifically examples in the Old Testament, whenever such things would happen, it's always a result of the peoples disobedience to God. For example, in cases of severe national spread idolatry, there were cases were rain wouldn't fall, crops wouldn't bare, etc. So for me with my Biblical worldview, I don't see this as "climate change" at all. I see this as a sign of our disobedience to God and disobedience cannot go unpunished. The same way a loving parent disciplines his or her child, God disciplines us as well. As for human trafficking, that's one more thing to add to the list of heinous crimes against humanity that will not go unpunished.

Nothing to do with this comment. Madonna's show was more than 1000 km from this region in another state and was paid for by a large bank and Heineken, the state invested just 2 million dollars and generated 60 million dollars in the state's commerce and in taxes to be collected.

Efficient DRAINAGES and FLOOD CONTROL STRUCTURES should be considered as imperative part of their infrastructure initiatives. There is no use of BLAMING now for any ecological LAPSES on the part of the citizenry and governance - just take the cudgels to get into REFORESTATION or GREENING projects all over the country, tapping the school youths to include in their study curriculum activities or exercise - PLANTING TREES.

Reforestation will not fix 30 million liters of water in 2 days of rain, buddy. I agree that it should be done along with improvements in infrastructure to protect or alleviate the risk of flooding. But understand that in 1 week of rain it would be possible to fill half of our biggest hydroeletric dam, the third biggest dam in the world, behind only of China's. Thats a fuckton of water.

Ajudar pessoas a viver é uma ação humana. Ajudar a reconstruir uma cidade suicida nao vai ser uma ação racional diante disso. Pintar, consertar telhado, remendar ruas , e outras obras nao vai resolver . Melhor dar perda total e desmanchar tudo onde foi mais arrasado.
