It is not a debate, it is a confrontation between two speakers. It's not structured as a debate, it has no moderation, no specific time restrictions. Idk where you got the idea that speakers should just calmly make their points and have all of the audience listen in silence. As far as I know it has always been like that in there as well as in many other European countries. Arguments like that are more about the rhetoric abilities of the speaker rather than actually making good and factual points. It's how men were making decisions in democratic systems since begging of our civilizations. If you want a debate you can find those elsewhere, they participated in those already, this is an argument as it should be.

@Sophie McKenzie And paying for insulin through "extortionate" taxes is still preferable to paying for medical bills and wholesale drug prices. Quick points to go over: * Taxes are extortionate because of the Tories. Don't vote for them or anyone who wants to rinse the poor and working classes over the 1%. * The NHS is supported by thousands of European workers. Brexit is killing their jobs and, as a result of being potentially understaffed, the NHS. * The NHS is free to use if you're resident in the UK. If not, any European or Swiss national is free to get healthcare through an EHIC, which allows them to get healthcare in Europe, which then gets billed to the user's home country. Anyone without insurance or an EHIC or proof of residency pays out of pocket.

@@cherrydoodles Just to clarify I am no fan of the Tories, but they are still way better than Labour. The UK has a higher population than France, and we are not even one third the size of France. Yet Corbyn has repeatedly mentioned he wants to introduce an open border style system, welcoming tens of millions of immigrants in to our country. So despite how much of a bad state the NHS is in right now, with Corbyn in charge it will get 100 times worse. Even MI5/MI6 has warned multiple times that Corbyn is a threat to national security. No wonder there's so many businesses and influential people packing their bags and leaving the UK. Give it 5 years the UK will be a third world country.
@cherrydoodles
@cherrydoodles 4 жыл бұрын
Sophie McKenzie Some of us already live in abject poverty for no reason other than the Tories refuse to tax the correct people the correct amount. France also has free-to-residents healthcare. In fact it’s better, as having a baby can come with the option of a free healthcare worker/nanny for the first few weeks of a baby’s life. Corbyn is not rolling a mat out with a free invitation to anyone and everyone, but because of the way this country has been running for the past few years, many professionals; doctors, nurses etc. chose to emigrate, he is appealing for workers willing to fill those shortages. Corbyn announced in the Labour manifesto just short of a month ago that he’s willing to compromise on the issue of immigration. So to say he’s going to let ‘tens of millions’ of people in, when 1) our housing situation wouldn’t support it and 2) Labour peers are likening him to Nigel Farage for willing to be stricter on immigration is preposterous. People come here because we’re an English speaking country. Due to an over saturation of English speaking media in the world (and yes, this includes KZfaq), English is commonly the world’s second language. Also, France is only twice the size of the UK and our populations are exactly the same, at 67M. French political discourse often incites riots in major cities, which could be by design, but it puts people off settling. Paris, Bordeaux and Nantes have a few small fires because of Macron’s pension reform. Neither of us are going to change the other’s mind, but please don’t start swinging hyperbole to scare people. Have a good night.

And 6 hospitals is still an amazing achievement so far considering the Labour Party hasn’t done anything for the NHS. I've needed a hernia operation for several years - it's really uncomfortable & it's only because I'm on pain meds for other stuff that I can manage AT ALL. I was in the queue - had the pre-op tests & everything 4 times (because the queue kept growing) and then the local NHS had to cancel ALL hernia ops which weren't immediately life-threatening (which is when you get strangulated gut & could die at any moment). Presto- no waiting list. These people shouting at each other are not actually reducing waiting lists & the disgusting spectacle of the Government that has cut the NHS to the bone claiming *anything* AT ALL on the backs of hard-working doctors & nurses is just the sort of self-praising hubris we've come to expect from the self-servatives. Besides these politicians don't seem to get it - it's OUR collective money as a society - not theirs. They are just administrators of OUR money - so THEY haven't done *anything* they claim - the Doctors & Nurses & all the people who work in the NHS have done it. Politicians - pah! Ego ego ego... (for those who know Latin)

- but even the markets are twisted into a casino & most money being 'invested' today is actually being 'gambled'. 95% of all trades today are just gambling on which direction the 'price' of a share or commodity will go - only 5% ever take delivery of a share or commodity. This is no longer capitalism because if the casino was shut down, then 100% of the 'money' being invested would be chasing that small 5% which represents real stuff... and that would change the 'price' of everything & we would very soon understand why a consumerist society is totally unsustainable - those in control are perfectly happy with the status quo - and so are the rest of society because they get cheap stuff at the expense of future generations.

Money for the NHS has been on a steady rise over over the last 20 years. I can only presume that an extra 200,000 - 300,000 people each year being eligible to use it, but previously having paid no taxes to support it and only go on to pay minimal taxes from low paying jobs, might have something to do with the pressure on the NHS.

Aspartame69 it’s called atory government that is putting the stress on the NHS. I remember what Thatcher did to the NHS 18 month wait for an ear, nose and throat appointment, I had to wait that long with earache and living with my head in a bucket! Then on top of that 6months waiting for an “urgent” surgery, a very big ovarian abscess, which was only kept in check, from bursting, by prescribing 6 months of 3 antibiotics taken all at the same time, along with pain killers. That is the Tories with our NHS for you, they only see a profit margin for themselves and their cronies!
