Thanks! Yeah it is unfortunate. It’s probably intentional though. Poor lubrication = Shorter lifespan = More sales. Rotating grilles help with air distribution, similar to oscillation. The slats of rotating grilles are slanted slightly, so when they spin, the air is expelled at varying angles.

Glad you enjoyed it! I'm sure the new owners needed the fan way more than I did, so I have a feeling they like it a lot.

Same, I also very much prefer the look of the blue one. It has more vibrance on what otherwise is a plain modern fan. Haha I actually had the same thought about the badge size on this fan. It's probably just an illusion because the badge and blades are both the same colour.

@@TheSuperFanMan it reminds me of a 5 blade oscillating desk fan that Holmes used to make a few years ago with those blades in the all black scheme.

It does! Also I think there were pink and blue versions that came with the Sunbeam name. Interesting because this Westinghouse pedestal fan is also available in black, blue and pink lol.

It can be turned counterclockwise to loosen. It’s reverse threaded.

It might just be over-tightened. I’m not sure if returning is the best route to go, but it depends on the context.

I usually have no intentions of keeping most of the modern fans I buy, and these pedestal fans were no exceptions. I sometimes will buy modern fans that look interesting to make videos on.

It’s the unfortunate reality of most appliances nowadays. They don’t make them like they used to. Most modern fans (especially the simple oscillating fans sold at big box stores without fancy electronic controls) will actually last a long time if well cleaned and occasionally oiled. Performance will be disappointing though, compared to older fans. But if you prefer an older fan, I’d suggest taking a look on local buy/sell sites or thrift stores. Sometimes you can score good older fans for a fraction of the price of a new one.

@@TheSuperFanMan Thanks for the suggestion. I will have to check to see if I can find any older fans for sale. Nothing beats the quality of older appliances thats for sure!

I don't think Canadian Tire sold this particular fan, but Walmart certainly did. Walmart still sells this, but I think they have a different colour option (grey, if I recall correctly?).

All good, Canadian Tire does sell fans that look quite similar! Their 5-blades DC pedestal fan comes to my mind.

Same, I like the way it looks too. I think this model came out last year.

At the end of summer last year, it was on a clearance sale. Couldn't resist the price, even though it's a modern fan lol.

A bit of both for sure. The materials used for the bearings probably aren't as good as they should be, and they use poor quality oil and in tiny quanities. A perfect combination to reduce a fan's lifespan.

It does have a similar sound! I agree; once it hits medium and high speeds, it has the typical 5-blade-fan whizzing sound.

Those blue translucent bladed Galaxy fans were really steeper than the 5 bladed fans, they have almost no pitch to those blades.

I suppose you could mount a bottle upside down with a small nozzle behind the fan lol.
