The secret with electric netting is not to roll it up but to lay it flat on the ground and only pick the stakes up start one end of the net then do the reverse when setting it out, drop one stack at a time and keep tension in the net. Easy! From an ex farmer in the Westcountry, love your KZfaq.

I agree. Still tiresome stuff to work with though. And getting the tension with those flimsy poles as corners!😂 Oh dear.. Especially once you have used a rappa! Even the barrow version. I hope it works. Those naughty goats need to learn a bit of respect for some kind of fencing.

When you say "ANIMAL!" it must be a compliment. As in Bambi eats her placenta and goat eats thistle. ANIMAL! The tank falling off the truck bit is stuff that happens to me all day long. So frustrating and twice the work.....AND it usually happens when you feel like dirt already.

If you wire lids off tin cans, here and there on your electric fence, the goats will touch them out of curiosity and quickly learn to respect the fence. You need a better ground, for your fence. If your rod is in deep, soaking the earth around it with water might help.

Try giving the goats a chain collar with a dangly bit so that every time they approach the electric fence they get a shock for sure.

Sounds potentially hazardous. Was just doing hooves for a lady that puts collars on everything and her strangely giant Katadhin ram about hung himself.

Mate, get yourself a solar panel fence unit. Get a fence tester that will show you where it's shorting out. Goats have no RESPECT for anything apart from an electric fence

I was quite surprised you had goats as well because they are hard to keep them in especially like you if it’s not your land & you want to keep people happy because your starting from scratch, which I think is amazing but yes goats are very hard to keep in one place & they are really good jumpers, I hope you get it sorted because it would be a shame if you had to get rid of them now 😊

Get yourself a mains electric fences for the netting. It's the best because of the grass is earthing it. When ur taken it back up just pull up the stakes start 1 2 3 etc. You'll have the stakes in your hands all together with the net trailing behind. Lay it down on the ground and roll the netting up towards the stakes and tie it all up stakes and netting with some twine

I’ve got some of this wire it’s crap in long grass only way we manage to use them efficiently is on mains electric fencing units the battery will die fairly quick as it was shorting out constantly
