The son's acting is more demanding & is amazingly impressive. An adult that needs to act cute & he did it so naturally. The mum can scream & shout it out. Moreover the mum is a veteran. The Good Bad Mother is too good a drama to miss frr.

Precisely, I haven't come across an adult that can act cute & not being annoying nor disgusting but so endearing. Moreover, he had to tackle multi roles ( college student, cold prosecutor, a dad, a fiance, arch rival samsik ) in one same drama. If these skills & versatility in acting are not being recognized, I am flabbergasted.

She’s definitely a bad mother. She had good intentions and failed. We only say she’s good because we had the context from the beginning of the show as to why she did what she did. Imagine we didn’t have that context we’d all think she was genuinely awful

It’s not blaming her but she was responsible for how her child turned out and he turned smart and resentful that’s a dangerous combo. He as a child was innocent in all that was going on with her life and she took that away making him study day in and day out. That’s the point of the show

​@dershaymcdonald5409 - I disagree regarding the mother failing her son. Yes, she did make mistakes along the way. But at no point did she encourage him to seek revenge. She only wanted to keep him safe, and have him take on a profession where he would not be victimised and at the mercy of others. If anything, she wanted him to become someone who could help others. Given their life circumstances, she didn't have the benefit of a reliable support system to help guide her. She never insisted that he do something unless he first demonstrated that he had the capacity to achieve the goal. Did she go to extremes sometimes? Yes. But she was trying to prepare him for the race of his life, and she understood how easy it would be for him to never be able to rise above the circumstances that he had been born into. With their reality being so harsh and ungiving, there was not a lot of wiggle room for being anything other than outstanding.

For one it’s not about him taking revenge as an adult it’s about the fact she made studying that boy’s whole life and she only had ONE reason why which she told him was his dad’s death so no she didn’t encourage him to seek revenge but she made it clear WHY she wanted him to get the job. She sacrificed her son’s psychological and emotional well-being for success and knowledge which only hurt him in the end. I’d suggest reading my comments over bc I don’t think you get it

Him and the villagers(except the gf and her children) are just there to fill up the episodes, if not the drama will end in 6-8 episodes. You can basically skip their scenes and not miss out anything from the main plot lol.

I am waiting myself to see how he and a few others will fit in at the end. Because otherwise, I, too, am at a loss for why his character has been included at all. The face mask lady I anticipate will be both a funny and crucial reveal. Likewise, I think that Sam-Sik will experience a heart-felt character arc (it might not be a PERMANENT change of heart, but I am betting it will be a literally life-affirming moment). Ultimately, I think that the MOST 'useless' character will have been Andrea the foreign farm hand. His character being a Westerner has added absolutely nothing to the storyline. If anything, I wish that the writers could have figured out a way to make his character more necessary somehow. Right now, he is just a one-off oddity: a Westerner who (sort of) speaks Korean. Like observing some strange creature in a zoo.

@@RaisuuI mean I think they’re pretty important. This drama is also about having community and belonging. The singer arc was deffo filler and something to make it lighter, but it showed how to much they grew together. It would’ve been really sad if the villagers were not there. You don’t usually have dynamics like that in city where everyone would care about one kid in the neighborhood.
