Yes, skippy the scapegoat did not do so well.

From what I’ve read it appears the blood on the horns was left to dry and eventually disintegrate. But I read somewhere (I’ll try and find it) that the blood drained from slaughtering the animals may have followed a cut away in the stone to a place of deposit. I’ll have to check. Great question.

God is Holy, Holy, Holy and in him is no sin. You are created in his image and are found wanting. The blood of animals offers nothing but it's a forshadowing of what's to come. Jesus said, "I'm the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but by me". The real question, image bearer, is do you want to stand before the perfect judge on your own merit or the merit of God's only begotten Son? For with out blood, there can be no remission of sins. Sin is a horrible afront against the Holy creator. Which requires a horrible response in order to rectify the situation. The Bible is clear. Either you submit and acknowledge your guilt before God. Of course isnt Satan the title for the accuser? Lucifer was his name and he was known by many names. But his title was known as Satan. I dont believe in any of the Abrahamic myths. But I find it interesting the ancient Jewish rituals that were performed. People have their faith, so I wont delve into my opinion about the subject. But the myth states outright that Lucifer was the scapegoat blamed for giving man hidden knowledge. I understand the purpose of religion, but one doesnt need it to establish a moral compass. For me all myths are the same, and I try to find the hidden symbolism within them. I like Scandinavians, Egyptian, Greek & Roman myths to be my favorite. This is just my opinion and Ill leave it at that. But this myth I find to be particularly interesting though.

So what about Islam? They don't count huh? You'd think they'd be the scapegoat since Ishmael was literally sent out to the wilderness with his mother. I don't knock anyone's belief's as Im just interested in the myths of all religions. I dont follow any beliefs, but it still interests me from a logical perspective. They all are the same to me Greek and Roman myths, Sumerian and Babylonian, Egyptian, and Scandinavian myths. I understand myths are not literal but many followers of all these myths thought so. I suppose thats why the Abrahamic religions place such emphasis on having faith. Especially since it was the first monotheistic religion to spread. Which of course it would because no longer was Paganism the status quo of worship. There was no God, but the one true God according to them. Then man argued about which version was the right way to worship the one true God. Again Im not trying to offend, nor debate anyone. Like I stated I treat all myths as equal and I like to educate myself on such myths. Too each their own, but this myth interest me because of Azazel being the scapegoat. As a child going to church they didnt place much emphasis on the fallen angels much if at all. There isnt much if any mentioning of Lucifer and his fallen angels. I looked into the Book of Enoch, which many do not accept as Biblical canon. I can see the symbolism of rituals.

No, If you notice in Leviticus 16:10 the first goat is offered as a sin offering. The second is presented to God and must make atonement to God. The Bible says without the sheding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin. The second goat is led into the desert symbolic for being removed from God's presence. Who will be removed from God's presence for all eternity and bare the guilt for all the sin ever to exist? Satan.

Depends whether you think the day is propheticaly connected to judgement day. No, we don't need Satan for atonement, however, Satan's fate is spelled out in Revelation 20, and there are many scriptures tyeing Satan to blindness, deception, and cause of sins. Yeshua's warning was that a house divided cannot stand. His kingdom will reign sovereign, not compete with the enemy.

@@poophandle Jesus's sacrifice only applies to those who accept his atonement at the cross, However, Atonement to God must be made for all the sin that has ever existed. This is why the black scapegoat represents Satan, Satan isn't a sacrifice for sin he is the one who takes responsibility for all the sin that has ever existed and for bringing sin into existence. Christ is our atonement to the Father, Satan is not atonement but punishment. The difference is quite clear because Christ reigns and rules for eternity with the saved and Satan is completely destroyed. Christ was a willing sacrifice for those who accepted him! Satan isn't willing for anything, he is the father of lies and there was no truth in him when iniquity was found in him. It really disturbs me that people can't see the difference between the two.

That so when we participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Lamb in the Mass we partake of the fulfillment of the feast of Passover, day of atonement, and feast of tabernacles. In fact in each Catholic Temple before the alter is a tabernacle that holds the bread the body of the Lamb. There is even a menorah and a throne and the sign of the cross and a book that is read just as it is in Heaven as described in the book of revelation.

I’m not sure if you are aware of this but ancient paganism used to do eat and drink in what they believed took form of their own demigod. But it is unending as Christ offers his own blood in the heavenly sanctuary as our high priest where past present and future meet. So the sacrifice of the Mass through the Holy Spirit is a participation in the same divine sacrifice that started at the last supper sealed at the cross and continued forever in the Heavenly Temple. That is why the catholic priest offers the sacrifice of Jesus to the Father through the Holy Spirit in the person of Jesus Christ. And so the New Testament is perpetuated throughout all time to eternity. That is what the Church of Christ has always believed and taught. Now you call the breaking of the bread and the cup of wine only symbols of Christ’s body and blood. How can you call it only a symbol?? When a symbol was already given to the people of God in the wilderness when they ate bread that came down from Heaven. The bread that came down was a symbol of the real bread that would come down later which is Jesus Christ. Because after all the old covenant or the Old Testament was temporary and a shadow of the eternal covenant and real bread that would come later. That is why in the gospel of John Jesus affirms in no unclear language 7 times in fact. That he is the bread come down from Heaven that was alluded to by the symbols of the past. That his body is the real bread come down from Heaven that whoever eats of it will not die but live for ever. With Jesus there are no more symbols but raw reality. And he gives us his body and blood to eat and drink under the appearance of bread and wine. Because when he grabs the bread and says “this is my body” it becomes his actual body just as with the same power of word that God when he spoke in the beginning declared with his mouth “let there be light” and so it was. And then said to the sea “be still” and so it was, and said to the tree “be cursed and bear no fruit” and it was.

Yes a lamb but can be seen as the scapegoat also!

Christian’s getting the idea of jesus being the lamb, proves yet again that Christianity is a men created religion. The lamb idea comes from the time when the Israelites departed Egypt. A lamb was eaten the night before, and it’s blood was put upon the door post, so that the angel of death would pass over that house. The reason the lamb was used, was simply because the Egyptians worshipped the lamb as a god. Eating the lamb and using it’s blood was a message to Egyptians that the lamb was a false god. The writers of Christianity as with most of the New Testament took things out of context from the Torah and later from the Tanach. This story proves that God had already provided a way for man to be forgiven. To wash away the sins and to correct oneself by avoiding to commit the same sins. The idea of human blood to atone for sins was always an abomination to the L’rd. And this is repeated throughout the Torah and the Tanach. Time for Christians to understand the Shema, and it’s true meaning.

I’m assuming you listed Jeremiah 7:1-15 because you are saying the rituals of Yom Kippur are of a “false religion.” You are welcome to believe what you will. How would you teach what this portion of the Bible is explaining? No one practices these rituals today. It is part of Jewish history. A history I believe informs both Jews and Christians about how nations and religious leaders both can loose their way and need confession, repentance, atonement and forgiveness.

Mr. “Poophandle:” No did not make it up. It is one of the Jewish views on the goat for Azazel. I believe I mentioned briefly some view that particular goat as representing a god of the desert.
