regarding "Why Ang Mo is better" is because all we see in films that break box office records internationally are "Ang Mo" films yet, some of these films are directed by Malaysians or by other people in other countries. Case in point, The Fast and Furious films. James Wan is a Malaysian who moved out to make a name for himself in filming because Malaysia still has this mindset of how film, media and anything creative wise is considered as "cannot make money" or "wasting your time" we have a lot of growing up to do as a country and community here...

Yo this is awesome. I agree with this as a Singaporean who wants to be a filmmaker I feel that the mindset in Singapore on film and media should be of a balance of the two. Sure, Singapore can still focus on the thing that it's good for such as business but I think it should also focus on film and media to cultivate a stronger sense of identity among the youth who are exposed to more Western movies and are more convinced to migrate. I feel that Singapore should go deeper into the films that they make by focusing on other genres and introduce more opportunities for the youth to focus and dabble on films. This way, there will be more Asians films other than Korean, Japanese, Chinese films that will match up against Western films and will result in a strong Singaporean film identity
