Not to downplay the other presenters, they are all top notch. I have to say David Fletcher is my favorite. It's his funny way of expressing his thoughts on various aspects of the tanks he is showcasing. There is almost always a poke or straight up jab at the negative aspects of design that inspires a smile or laughter. Keep up the good work Mr. Fletcher!!!

You have to remember that the UK was putting all its talent and money into building planes and ships, tanks were really last in line when it came to priorities and with the Americans dropping off whole ships full of Shermans they could afford to hold back the Covenanter, skip a few steps and work on something a bit better like Centurion.

Thank you David Fletcher when I'm designing my Tank I WILL avoid that idea. My Tank shall be something like New Zealand's Bob Semple Tank and Marvin Heemeyer's Killdozer. But with a Rockin' paint job

Another great video, the Covenanter was a good looking tank whatever its many faults. It's odd that in that era Britain seemed to have a talent for making good looking tanks which weren't very good.

Presented by Mr Fletcher = an immediate Thumbs Up. Take good heed, all who present documentaries, not pop-u-mentaries, you don't have to be amusing, but you do need to know a fair deal about your presentation. Bumbling, side-tracking, and just downright info-overloading don't distract from the task; lack of commitment or going through the motions does. ;o)

I'm new to the world of becoming a tank enthusiast, and I love the way the Covenanter looks. This channel is the best! I really want to visit the U.K. and The Tank Museum is near the top of the list of places I want to go!

David is by far my favorite tank lecturer! He has such a great ability to articulate matter of fact information in an interesting way and there is so much subtle humor. Everyone on the channel is great but gives me so many little chuckles that it sets him apart!

"Warts and all". Great Oliver Cromwell quote. Nice. Covenanter was troubled by its Engine and, perhaps, placing the radiator gear on the front plate was a bit specious. Once the Meteor was installed in the Cromwell Cruiser Tank, all past design crimes were forgiven.

The good man couldn’t be more British if he tried and he keeps surprising me with more British tanky britishness. I just love Tank Grandpa!

I think that it's good educationally to show a bad tank versus a good one so people understand what makes a good tank good. Covenanter does certainly look like well.. Like a tank and for its day not a bad one on paper...

Can I just say something as a Railway enthusiast that kinda peeved me off (no hard feelings towards you David), the LMS was never really referred to as "The LMSR" it's always been referred to by enthusiasts and the railway company themselves as the "LMS", even on all of their engine liveries you will see the letters LMS and never LMSR. I hate to be an "Armchair Enthusiast" but I saw this one little misconception and thought I'd put my two pennies-worth in. But seriously... as a Railway Enthusiast who had these videos pop up into my KZfaq recommended feed I've become quite interested into Tanks now thanks to these videos and at one point I need to make a visit down to your guys at the tank museum because I've found a new appreciation for these vehicles and how they have been used to help our country during times of war and peace and I think this tank (despite all it's flaws as you've articulated David,) definitely has it's place within our countries history of manufacturing and R&D, not for it's brilliance but as an example of how us as a country didn't shy away from new ideas and giving companies the chance to do something unique with the resources they had.

It's good to have perspective. I agree with having the not-so-good tanks there to compare, and show how it can go wrong.

You can tell he was struggling to say nice things about it a few times lol. It was a pleasure as always.

I like showing the bad tanks and good tanks. History should never have a filter and it's all important to the story. Showing things like this often shows the genesis of better tanks to come. Great job as always! 💯

Fantastic! I always liked the look of that tank, interesting to hear that it wasn't ever used because it was so terrible. Radiators on the front is a little odd since they'd presumably have been easier for the enemy to hit, even with armour.

One of my favorite wwii tank designs is this A13/A15 cruiser tank series... it may be unreliable but boy is it a beauty to look at
