Website for Nora Murphy's Country House:
noramurphycountryhouse.com/
Nora Murphy has turned her passion for country house style and its embodiment-her own home in Newtown, Connecticut-into a multimedia juggernaut. Her blog, website, e-magazine, strong presence on social media, and increasing visibility in print media and on TV have earned her a devoted following all over the country. Now she has distilled the essence of her knowledge about country house style and how to achieve it in this irresistible volume. The first part of the book lays out the universal elements of the style; the second reveals how she has incorporated these elements into her own home; and the third shows how the elements of this comfortable, comforting, easy aesthetic and approach to life can be applied in different ways and in different locations to striking, individual effect. Five homes, each of which expresses a unique take on the style, are featured. Part primer, part wish book, Nora Murphy’s Country House Style is all inspiration.

Great book review but I think I liked your front porch and pumpkin idea better. Both really cute.

I bought this because I was aware of Nora Murphy's history with Ralph Lauren, but I fell in love the photographs and vignettes and the beautiful surroundings.

On Facebook there are groups of artisans who trade napkins by mail. Two layers are taken off the paper so it is so transparent it is refined looking. Bottles and pumpkins and lamps and so much more can be decoupaged. Liquid starch can be used (bluing) for silver, aluminum, etc. starch is not permanent at all! I like watching your reviews three times. I learn so much visually.

I so enjoy your channel. I will be purchasing this book. In the past, I've decoupaged eggs with blue and white Caspari napkins. They are lovely. Thank you for sharing these books, just what I need, more books.😊🙋‍♀️🎃

My husband said the same thing- The Mod Podge is a water soluble decoupage so I was able to rinse it off. 🎃

It's Tobacco Leaf by Mottahedeh. My childhood was full of tobacco fields and this pattern was found at Mt. Vernon. So, I love those connections.

Thank you for this one! I enjoy all your reviews, I've bought several of the books directly due to your reviews. But this book, Nora Murphy's book, I already love it though I haven't even seen it yet. This one feels familiar. I've been decorating "Country Style" for several decades. My first decor book purchases beginning some time in the late 1970s (when I was still a teenager) were all about country style, and I've purchased 100s of magazines through the years with the descriptor "Country" somewhere in the title. Until in recent years when there was a shift with publishers leaning toward putting words like "cottage", "vintage," "shabby," or "romantic" in the titles--and I enjoy those too. But Nora's book seems to be more of what I knew from the past. This feels comfortable, familiar -- like coming home. I purchased this book just before I wrote this comment. And now I'm really looking forward to it arriving. Thank you again, and for all your reviews. ~D
