one of these catastrophes was caused by sentient AI and killed almost all inside the facility. the other was caused by curious humans and killed half of the people inside the facility and half of the people outside the facility (roughly four billion)

Yeah. He may be one of the more recognizable single video game protagonists, but he really kinda just _fell in_ to heroism after everything had already gone sour. He wasn't actually anyone all that important beforehand.

@@Anastas1786 Except he kind of was. G-Man has seemingly pre-selected a bunch of important individuals into his (or his masters) plan, amongst which you can find Gordon, Shepard and likely others. He has a "classified" sponsor in the facility. He's CONSTANTLY watched by G-Man throughout the game (even before the cascade). And is taken away by him at the end only to end up in the train to City 17 at the start of HL2. Gordon is clearly an important person, it's just that he's important for different reasons. For Black Mesa employees, he's just one of the many PHDs there. But in overal plot of the world, he's possibly one of the most important people out there.

The most significant thing Gordon did in Half Life 1 was kill the Nihilanth. In Xen he may have been a hero and a liberator, but in Black Mesa he was just a survivor, like all of his security guard friends and scientist colleagues.

Theres tons of FNV factions you can cover. Think Tank, BoS, NCR, Legion, Utah Tribes, Khans, Boomers, Vegas Families, Followers of the Apocalypse and more. The Think Tank and NCR are among the most interesting.

Half-Life seriously deserves it's own live-action Netflix series already. It wouldn't work as a standalone film, not successfully, but a prequel series with a second or third season going over the events of the first game.

with black mesa blue shift and it having been approved by crowbar collective and wonderfully accepted by its community it in a technicality adds more lore due to its canon friendly lore addition, it expands the past with the old prototype labs and i would love to see the Templin institute cover black mesa once again, truly loved the coverage on it, hope remains!

Fills in some questions I had, love halflife, my brother has made some great custom maps, one based on the underground water storage of the Edo River Flood Control system, the huge room w columns, his vers is 1/2 the size but has 2 walkways around the edge to shoot from, another is a storage facility, a castle, abandoned office building and abandoned motel, great for when you need something to wake your brain while the Keurig makes coffee and while the caffeine starts to kick in.

It was quite nice to watch and gives a broad overview, but I actually hoped for a more indepth analysis on how Black Mesa is structured, how it works and so on. (If this information exists somewhere). Like this it was more a brief story recap of Half-Life 1 and the aftermath of it. But still nicely done! :)
