Eating At The New Booths At Disney's EPCOT Food & Wine Festival & Talking About Disney Genie!

In today's vlog we head to Disney's EPCOT Food & Wine Festival to try food from the newly opened food booths. We tried the cowboy mac & cheese from the Mac & Eats outdoor kitchen, the Korma Chicken and Mango Lassi from the India outdoor kitchen and the Coffee Rubbed Beef from the Kenya outdoor kitchen. Then we took a quick break to talk about and breakdown the new Disney Genie, Genie+ and Lightning Lane info. What are your thoughts about that, let us know in the comments down below! Then we get back into trying the new foods. We tried the raclette cheese from The Alps booth, the charcuterie from the Spain booth and we end the evening with a mango donut of the day from the Donut Box booth. We had a great time trying all the new foods and we can't wait to get back and try more! We hope you had fun hanging out with us at EPCOT today! Tim, my fiance and I were right behind you in the line entering EPCOT this rainy Saturday night but didn't want to bother you! But I've been watching you for years, so it was awesome to see you work your magic in the parks! We spotted you a few more times during the night and were like there's Tim again! This whole Genie+ and paid Lightning Lane is a cash grab. I realize they are trying to recoup lost revenue due to the shutdown, especially from other parks aroujd the world. However even though its optional to pay the upcharges, the fact that they exist hacks me off to the point of not wanting to go at all. And I'm saving a ton of money living vicariously through KZfaq

Basically: *Basic Genie FREE, no rides included, just plans day. *Genie plus - pay $15/day per person access to most rides via lightening lane - NOT high demand rides!! *Premier rides - like Rise of Resistance an additional fee (Fee for each premier ride not disclosed yet), on top of $15 for day fee. One Person >> Total = park ticket + genie plus ($15) + premier ride + premier ride (2 premier rides per day). Geez!! 🤦🏽‍♀️ 💸

But you don't have to pay the$15 for genie plus in order to utilize the premier rides. You can pay to ride a premier ride without buying the genie+.

Lightning Lane is just another example of Disney nickle & diming guests for something that was free for years (fast pass). At this point Walt would be beyond disgusted with how his parks are being managed..

We would travel from CT to Disney World when our daughter was little as often as we could. We moved to Florida( an hour away from Disney world) 16 years ago and haven’t set foot in Disney World. Way over priced!

You say that but when Disneyland and Walt Disney world both opened you had to buy a ticket for each ride now you can ride each and every ride as many times as you want.

@@TheLostfoundation thank you for further proving my point. I remember the "E-ticket" days quite clearly. You could buy a book of tickets for about $12. But when Disney switched to a single price business model, the price more than doubled! Yet another example of Disney price gouging it's guests..

My main complaint with the new lighting lanes isn’t even the price, I just hate the fact that you constantly have to be on your phone trying to book reservations and rides and checking wait times. I like to just go to the parks to walk around and plan as I go and disconnect from my phone, Dont wanna be staring at my screen half the time I’m there !

The Genie thing has caused some kind of an uproar, but people don't remember that Disneyland has been doing that for a while. When I went in 2018, you had to pay 10 dollars a day for fast pass. The only thing is this is this seems like with the lightning lane thing it's gonna be more expensive.

Poor Jenn didn't get to go and try all the new booths. Darn i usually go this week but had to move it to end of July and this makes me mad that those booths were open now. Also how less crowded it was. Well next year I am moving back to florida so I can go to the next one😊. Thanks Trackers ❤

My husband grew up in France and his favorite meal was Raclette. They have these machines with individual pans where you put onions, mushrooms, and lardon (small pieces of ham) and then melt the cheese over it. Then you pour all of that over a smashed boiled potato that you put butter, salt and pepper on. It's so good. And I agree that raclette smells gross like feet, but it tastes so good.

Crispy chickpeas are actually really easy to do at home. Just drain and rinse a can, thoroughly dry them, cover them in oil and salt and put them in the oven.

So, I love the optimism that it’s not bad at the moment so we can enjoy the park without the fast past perks......but there is reduced international foot traffic at the moment. Until that is up and running we don’t really know what the impact will be! To be honest I’m at the point of just wanting to get back and soak up the magic, but I’m not convinced any of the changes Disney have made will have a positive impact. I find the changes so disappointing and had hoped Disneyland Paris would adopt the WDW fastpass system 😕. that was a pipe dream

The wait times at the moment are probably not to bad because there are no international travellers. Its going to be crazy when the rest of the world can come back as so many people have missed their holiday and cannot wait to get back x

A) I was really amused by you trying to line up with the Remy spoon. I don't know why. B) This explanation of the Genie/Lightning Lane made more sense to me than the live stream. C) As someone who only gets to WDW every decade or so, the Boarding Groups system has really dampened my enthusiasm for trying to get to Galaxy's Edge. The concept of planning a multi-thousand dollar trip, and not getting on the main ride that I want to see is pretty gutting. I think that this new system *might* be trying to address this in some ways. And yes, I know that it's a "cash grab" but.... so is everything else. Disney is, in fact, a business.

I can’t even imagine being a TA right now and trying to explain this to my clients 😱 I am withholding judgement until we see it in action. Maybe it won’t be as bad as we think….. maybe.

Question. I am not from FL and I am not an AP. What if I pay the $15 a day to utilize the Lightening Lane (LL) pass and then I sign on the day I am going to use my LL and the only time I can get my LL pass for Big Thunder Mtn is 7 pm. So now I can’t get another LL pass until I have ridden BTM so the LL pass doesn’t benefit me all day long! Of course I am basing this scenario on how we got to pick our fast passes. But I cannot see how that is beneficial. Especially on a “after hours/party” night when MK closes early. Thoughts?

Do you have to purchase genie+ in order to purchase the separate big ticketed rides. For example, can I just pay the extra money to ride Rise of the Resistance or do I have to purchase genie+ first?

Unrelated to food, I miss the pre-smartphone days of WDW where it wasn't necessary to plan out your whole vacation. My parents and I used to come once a year, and we never had to plan anything. It was so nice to be able to just go and stroll around and be spontaneous.

Disney creating a class system through out the parks. They’ve been doing it for years but this genie thing ? I’m actually shocked by this one. I don’t know why.

Tim you should always try Indian food out there. They Americanize it by not adding too much chilli... so more flavor should be on offer generally. And try out Chicken or mutton Korma again with a Naan at an Indian restaurant you will definitely enjoy it. And Kulfi Falooda for desert it's an acquired taste but, if you like mango lassi you will enjoy it too. Or Kulfi icecream.

I'm just giddy those booths opened early. I'll be there in a couple of weeks and was bummed they weren't supposed to open. Had they burnt that cheese just a tad I bet it would have been heaven.
