In today's video we head back out to Disney's Coronado Springs Resort to check on the progress and to update you on the construction happening all around the resort. Coronado Springs is undergoing a full room refurbishment for the entire resort which is about half way done. There is also a new 15 floor tower being added to the property adding quiet a few rooms to the overall capacity of the resort. In addition to the room renovations the current resort is also getting a bar on the water in the middle of the lagoon. The food court is getting a few minor updates, all cosmetic with the exception of Rix Lounge. Rix Lounge is now Rix Sports Bar and Grill. This name change added a full menu to Rix and extended hours. All of the construction is supposed to be completed by 2019. Join us tomorrow for another new video!

Could argue it's too much at one time though. I'm glad I'm waiting on my trip till fall next year. Seems half the resorts are under some form or construction or remodel at once. (given some aren't as major as Coronado's is and definitely not Caribbean, people have to dine in tents there lol). That in combination that DHS and Epcot are in varying degrees of construction it's a lot to swallow. It's great they are planning more for people! I just feel the timing at all once coulda been better. lol

My family and I stayed at Coronado back in December 2017. At that point they had only 3 or 4 stories of the new building done and had not even started the work on the lake yet. It's amazing how fast they are getting this work done.

We stayed in Casitas 3 in 2015 and used that pool next to the health club. We loved it! !!Those fountains are fantastically lit at night and very relaxing!

I stayed at the preferred rooms in December they were amazing. I hope to stay there again soon. Cast members were so sweet, every single one. It's just beautiful. I think of construction of tempory dinosaur theming. 🤣😂 I forgot to check out the pool because if I'm not at the parks I'm in the room sleeping getting ready to go to the parks or at the bus stop waiting to go to the parks. Lol

I stayed in the Casitas area, right in front of the pool about 3 years ago. I absolutely loved my stay I would definitely go back. The gym is really big for a hotel gym and the rooms are super nice.

I stayed here last month for StarWars 1/2 marathon weekend & was in Casitas 1. Refurbed room by the oval courtyard with large oak tree. So quiet & peaceful- will stay again.

Thanks for the updates, Tim! I just stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms, so nice! I highly recommend this hotel for RunDisney races, it was super close to the finish line (bus took about 5-10 minutes), the spa is on sight for massages, etc.

My family stayed in Dec. 2017 a week before Christmas. Our rooms were in the Ranchos 7, and they were remodeled. Very nice, and very quiet. We couldn't hear the construction at all. Casitas are mostly preferred rooms.

The Ranchos were actually remodeled last year. We stayed in one of the first rooms remodeled and one of my first videos trying my gopro was in one. Thanks for the update we are headed back there in September.

It looks like they're repainting the entire resort to a more muted tones color palette. I like it. The resort starts to make a lot more sense if you read up on conquistador Francisco Vazquez de Coronado and his 2 year expedition to find the city of Cibola, one of the "Seven Cities of Gold". I think the appearance of the new tower ties into the legend as do other parts of the resort like the main pool. Most people know it as the Dig Site pool but its full name is The Lost City of Cibola Feature Pool at The Dig Site. It seems like the new changes are going to bring more of the "lost city of Gold" to the resort.

Tim thank you so much for going back and giving us this amazing update. My husband & I are coming this coming September from Essex in the UK for our 25th wedding anniversary & are staying at Coronado Springs. We booked last June & was told there would be construction, however it would not affect the Dig site home to The Lost City of Cibola Feature Pool. We have received an email this week to say it will be closed for our entire stay. I am absolutely gutted, I booked this resort purely for the relaxing afternoons around this wonderful pool. My husband is keeping my spirits up saying "we are 5 mins from Blizzard Beach, we can relax there" it looks stunning, I just wished I booked somewhere else now for our special anniversary. Keep doing what you do, love to Jen & thank you both xx

Yesss I worked at Coronado in 2015 and I always saw Expedition Everest all time from that section! And you can also see it from the Dig Site too! And Las Casistas looks so different! I’m gonna cry! I miss Coronado so much and that Spa outside area to sit is also new!

That's the first time you were able to look at construction site on a Disney property. It's amazing how a hotel is constructed. The bottom looks like it will be restaurants, gift shop, store you can buy snacks.

We stayed in building 2 in October. It was renovated but they were still renovating when we stayed. The large tree you showed had no sod while we were there. Just dirt. It looks so beautiful now!!!

The size of Magic Kingdom! I thought it looked huge. Yea I'd definitely get lost there. I'd go out in a courtyard to chill and forget how to get back to my room.

Stayed at casitas 2 in April right by the spa and smaller pool! Renovated room and amazingly quiet. No construction noises what so ever.

Have stayed there a couple of times. Very nice and quiet. It a moderate resort with deluxe amenities. It's the only moderate resort with a fitness center and spa due to get a lot of business guests. In the area by the cabanas you were able to see Everest from the beach area ever since it was built. An if you plan on staying and pick the think it's business room, they have a rec area to rest and relax while you stay only available for those guests. They usually have complimentary snacks and stuff there.

They are making some great progress! The event this weekend is the Varsity Summit. They did offer rooms as the All Stars, Pop, Coronado, and CBR. The Coronado convention center has practice rooms set up that teams can rent to practice during the event.

Hi! Just to clarify- the dancers stay at the Coronado Springs because that is where the Dance Worlds are held! The Cheer Worlds takes place at the same time and takes place at ESPN WWoS. Since the cheer competition is much bigger, their event takes place at WWoS and the participants stay at the All-Stars. Hope this helps!

Regarding the dancing and cheerleading competition, it actually was people staying at Coronado, all stars sports, movies and music, they took over the majority of Disney and they had the dance competitions taking place at the convention centre here, the cheerleading side was held at espn

Interesting that the concept art said Summer 2019, I'm booked to stay here towards the end of August next year and it notified me while booking that construction will be happening during my stay. I absolutely love your resort videos, especially when they’re about ones I’ve stayed at! This is the only moderate resort we ever chose and it was nice at the time, but it’s good to know construction will still be happening when we’re thinking of going this September

We checked in on 21st April and stayed for 6 days. We loved the resort and the construction wasn't too noisy for us at all. The issue we had was all the cheerleader groups (which front desk told us was 90% of the guests at the time we were there). Unfortunately, the cheerleading groups were so loud we ended up moving resorts. Disney were amazing when we complained and moved us to Animal Kingdom Lodge but the noise issue was a shame because we absolutely loved the resort! Will deffo go back, but will make sure it doesn't coincide with any cheerleading competitions!!

Loved this, TIm, and how you explain and put things into perspective for me that are under construction, thanx!! Loved seeing the turtle, and hope they keep that lake clean! WDW apparently does not care about "show" anymore - so sad! :( I';ve seen pics/vlogs of new rooms very nice, but "sterile", and not "Disney" to me at all - I think they're more going to appeal to the conventioneers than DIsney/vacationers. Gorgeous hotel and grounds for sure, VERY spread out. LOL @ "violent fountain".

From all the videos I've seen this isn't just Coronado sadly. Almost all the moderate and value resorts are getting refurbs and have the sterile look now. I don't know if that's really the case or if the new flooring just gives it that feel though since they are opting for vinyl flooring instead of carpet. (which arguably is easier to clean and won't have as many complaints as people made about rooms with carpet).

The three big and final events in All Star Cheerleading and Dance happen the last week of April and first two weeks of May. Dance usually stays at Coronado because the event is held in the ballrooms, where the cheer teams stay at the All Star Resorts (if they stay on property) since the event is at ESPN. That’s why you saw a bunch of dancers 🙃

The worlds and summit dance/cheer competitions have a package that Disney offers to the teams and it includes rooms at All-Star Sports.

The Dance competition actually takes place in the ballrooms at the coronado which is why there is so many dance teams staying there! We just missed you, we come from Scotland!
