Just got mine yesterday, drives very very well. Already had a tuned rcf and a A special TLX race me within a few hours of owning the car lol.

Love my Kona N. It does take some getting used to on the ride height and getting comfortable enough to push it.

Coming from an MX-5 to a Kona N I was a little nervous getting on throttle with the higher ride height and FWD but gave it a shot and wow, it turns in sharp like a rally car and you can just blast it out of a corner.

i got the Kona N-Line and love it! coming from a wrx im actually happy with its quickness. 0-60 in 7 sec is not bad at all for a crossover.

I don’t understand why anyone would get the Kona when the Elantra costs the same and bigger back seats. However I do like the strangeness of the Kona N.

@@postalpancho I have really bad roads in my neighborhood with tons of potholes so I need the ride height to get to good roads. The elantra would be destroyed in 2 seconds. Even guys pulling into driveways are scraping the crap put of their front bumpers since the front is so low and the overhang that long in the front. Plus I prefer the look of the KN.

Drive the standard base model Kona as rental, and was pleasantly surprised at handling characteristics. 2.0L NA was not enough with a fully loaded car tho. 40-75mph is sluggish

I think Sub Topher is going to ask Topher for more track days test drives in the future! Haha Its almost like a Fiat 500 that went binge eating. It's short, chubby and kinda chunky but it looks like a fun "suv"

Tropher, where’s your allocation for the road test? This track event was a while ago. In the meantime Hyundai’s has given you two iterations of the Kona, except the N.

The stiff N suspension setting for the track is subjective. VW gave the R a soft suspension for the "Special: Nurburgring" mode because that track has uphills, downhills, and unleveled chicanes, and whatnot... so soft is best for tracks like that, and this one seems like it fits the bill. Custom N mode w/ soft suspension would've done better. Also, wouldve loved to hear your immediate comparison between the fun and feel between the 6MT EN and the KN DCT.

I know this is a stupid question but 230i m sport vs Elantra/Kona N. What do you think is quicker on track? Since you’ve been in both.

EN > 230i. Not sure about the Kona. I strictly cross shopped these two vehicles and went with the EN Edit: Also this isn’t the best video to showcase the cars performance, there are other vids that show what the Kona N can really do. He’s also using manual mode which limits the boost a tad. The car senses when you’re driving it hard so leaving it in auto (in N mode) is faster.

That pavement looks WAAAY too crappy for that ultra bouncy suspension. I wonder if you turned the dampening down if the car would have been more compliant and not been bouncing all over the track.

I almost hate saying it, but I think Hyundai would do really well to drop the Veloster N, and offer the manual 6sp in the Kona N

@@porfiriato84 no, completely different car, way smaller, way more difficult to live with, way worse interior, and the turbo is smaller. the engine and transmissions are identical otherwise.

@@porfiriato84 there’s no real reason to buy a Veloster N at the moment. Kona N if you want more ride height. Elantra N for everything else. easy choice.

@@arucious oh I wasn't referring to Hyundai cars. I'm just saying in general there's a lot of nice options in the 40k range. From BMW 230 to Nissan Z, EN, G70 2.0 etc

I would stay away from any Hyundai product like the plague.. In my experience the only thing worse than the reliability of Hyundai vehicles is the way Hyundai treats their customers. I own a 2017 Hyundai Sonata PHEV, which experienced hybrid system failure on i95 (nearly causing an accident) on Aug 31, 2021. Two months later, during which time the Hyundai dealer made two unsuccessful repair attempts, I picked up my car only to have Hybrid system failure occur for the third time before I even made it to the first traffic light. The service center then told me the car (under warranty) needs a new battery pack, which I have been waiting for over the past EIGHT months. The car has been out of service for TEN months and Hyundai has refused all buyback attempts. I bought a new Rav4 Prime in Feb…..If I ever get my Hyundai back it will be sold… .. ……..
