France advance through to the quarter finals thanks to an own goal from Belgium veteran Jan Vertonghen. France have still yet to score from open play this tournament as they await Portugal in the next round.
Speaking of Portugal, they had to dig deep to win against Slovenia to punch their ticket into the next round after a frustrating evening for Cristiano Ronaldo. Slovenia took Portugal all the way to penalties in a valiant effort.

Need to find the stats on Ronaldo's woeful free kick conversion rate! POR won that match in spite of him, crazy to think he'll inexplicably end up going to the US World Cup as a 41yr old! Also, he's now missed 33% of the penalties he's taken outside of PK shoot-outs @Euro Champs!

Portugal would be way better without CR7 playing most of their matches, not even necessarily because CR7 is bad, but because when he's there they keep trying to force-feed him the ball.

@@StephenC1908 I mean, I've watched every match and it's a never-ending series of long balls to CR7. No idea which games you are watching, but that's the truth. And that's not even talking about having him take all the free kicks or not subbing him off while subbing off multiple players around him that are being far more impactful.

France Portugal both nothing special... unimpressed especially with Portugal... they would do well to move Ronaldo on...he was acting like a self centered big shot all game... somebody needs to have a word with him

Way to much attention on Ronaldo by the media. He is just a decent player now (not B'Dor level but still good) so he doesn't deserve the attention anymore. His set pieces where a lot better than Memphis for the Dutch, but Memphis didn't get half the attention from the English and Spanish speaking media.

The criticism against Portugal was fair, but why not apply the same logic with France, in the end, is boring but it's winning. The day Portugal stops winning, then we can discuss it.

Are you really being serious? England only had to dominate Slovakia for 2 minutes to win. France had to dominate for 90 mins and Portugal for 120. So tell me that

As bad as England are?...I don't fear France and I definitely don't fear Portugal...in a one off game England can beat both no problem... infact Keep writing England off everybody I'd rather it be that way....we were never favorite's that was the bookies playing games with the betting..

They were 30 secs away from being eliminated to Slovakia...The Ref adding 6 mins instead of 3 which he should have, they would have been gone....

Quite disappointed at the hypocrisy and laziness of the podcast. Moaning about it being the Ronaldo show and then spending the first 17mins only talking about him. Spoke about Diogo Costa for a minute and that's it. Also incorrectly quoting the penalty stat, Ronaldo scored against Spain in the World Cup. The criticism is granted but unfortunately the journalism is getting poorer by the episode
