The little guy just watched your whole video with me while sitting on my lap. Pretty amazing experience to watch a tool being forged from the comfort of my living room that I will someday give to him. Thanks for all your hard work, catch you on the next one.

The drawknives are well made, well balanced, easy to use, and not too heavy. Very nice work.

Thank you Kurt. For those who don't know, Kurt has one and he tested it out in extremely aged dry white oak.

My drawknife works fantastic Jim, I've used it to even out the edges for ash door trim on my interior doors that I cut on my sawmill. The wood was very dry from sitting in my garage for a couple of years. It works great. I wish I had one of those smaller ones , it would be easier to control. If you have one available, send me a price and I'll get back with you. Thanks again Jim. Dan.

Jim, I appreciate all the details and time you take to make a quality knife. People sometimes don’t understand the time and hard work that it takes to make a quality tool, and complain about the cost, as the old saying that you get what you pay for always hold’s true. Keep up the good work have a good one my friend.

A good friend just gifted me a beautiful hand-forged slick from Latvia as thanks for helping him out. It took 8 months to get to me due to production backlog because of the time it takes to make each one. For those of us who understand the process, it is easy to see the high value in a quality handcrafted tool.

Great job, Jim. I've been using my draw knife more these days to help with shaping. The weight is certainly important. When it's right, it's much easier to control. Course your eyeball is too, to watch the grain structure. Keep these excellent videos coming.

Hiya! You always Get what you pay for but sometimes you have to Pay for what you get / Buy cheap cry twice, pay dear and only cry once. (eather one is applicable here) Those who need to ask why the price obviously don't realise what goes into it! If you want Quality, don't expect it on the cheap! ..... (although us cheapskates will always be on the lookout) Have you thought about making a stamp to quicken things up? .... assuming the press could stamp that steel when hot! It does look like you have a production line setup nicely there though ...... Nice! It's got to be a bit of a buzz knowing you have made heirloom tools that are out there. Picturing one of the kids down the line being able to say "My Dad made that" has got to be good! Better yet would be ..... "We still make them in Grandad's Barn"! ;0)

Hey Jimbo! As always, another great vid! Really appreciate watching you coming into your own, so to speak. I might be talking out of the wrong side of my mouth, but that big cylinder of steel sitting next to your anvil made me think (yeah, I know, it scares me too): any reason you couldn't hammer down the end of the tang to the angle you like off the horn, and then put one back on when it's cold so you could build up a guide that you could bend to and not have to take it a few steps, lay it flush on the anvil to see if the tip is touching, or whatever you've decided is the distance/angle you want? Rather convoluted. Set something on top of that cylinder that is the right height to bend your tangs to. Just trying to help you find any step that you can reduce or take out of the process to speed UP production! Also wondering if your mill could be used to take off the bulk of the steel, at an angle, between your fuller and where the edge of the blade will be. Could save yourself an awful lot of grinding. Regardless, enjoying your channel immensely! Namaste Tried going to your website to maybe buy a draw knife and I can see anything but the commercial products. Does this mean sold out? Or did I not go to the right place?

Don't wanna be a smart Aleck, but you may want to consider a small surface grinder as an addition to your awesome shop. You can't beat them for precision and speed for what you are doing here. Used you could find one for about $1000. Just the tool and die in me. And yes, hand made high quality will cost. But those tools should last 5 lifetimes
