😂 to be honest i never heard of a "white jew" until recently. European hebrews were called "black" for hundreds of years. Thats why there are so many "schwartz's", german for "black". "Swarthy" was another term they liked using.

You've just earned a sub! Finally KZfaq recommends some useful content. I seriously sympathize with Jews. I'm an Assyrian from Duhok (North Iraq) and my great-grandmother was a Jew. Her sons (my grandpa and his brother) burned all of the old pictures of them with their Jewish relatives because some Catholic priest made a complaint against my grandfather decades ago just out of pure jealousy. They could've been arrested as it was Saddam's rule at the time and he was very hostile to Jews. Adonai bless and protect Israel, the apple of His eye.

That being said, my grandpa's cousin lives in Israel and we know her name but not location. She's an elder now and I'm not sure if we have more clues than this. My grandpa is the only one alive among his brothers and he's 94 years. Maybe I should gather all info now... Thank you and shalom! ❤

It shows how the Jewish have suffered for years and how the state of Israel was a haven for so many, that the state of Israel must survive this war and how important this war is for all who have come to Israel for refuge. These stories are so so important. Keep up the very important message you are telling. I pray for the safety of your family and send them love from my family to yours. Hi Tal! I did alot of research on the Farhud. One of the things that was horrible after the riots against Jews in Baghdad in 1941 and 1942 was the official discrimination that the government started from 1942 up till 1948. The firing of Jewish officials in government departments, and then when most Iraqi Jews decided to immigrate to the recently independent Israel the government of Iraq from 1949 till 1951 froze bank accounts of Jews, took gold and confiscated property and stripped Iraqi Jews of Iraqi citizenship. Your grandparents were good Israeli citizens. I enjoyed your video from 8 years ago when your grandfather showed us his medals from his time in the IDF. I saw a plaque in Paris (France) from the early 1900s when Jews of Iraq sent funds to help build a school for Jews in France. Please thank your family Tal for sharing their stories. Interesting that for over 2,000 years Jews in Iraq were known to have had ancestors who were originally from Judah in ancient Israel who were brought to Iraq by Babylonians or went to Iraq escaping Roman rule after 135AD. As soon as Israel got independence all of a sudden Iraqi Jews "weren't supposed to be in Israel".It is much appreciated that you give us the history of your family and I wish I could thank your family for showing us their lives. Todah rabah !

I can't stand the overuse of the word "colonizer" . Well it's purposefully used now by left leaning/ socialists/ / communists/ Islamists/ even Native Americans, et al, to tell certain groups that "they" owe them something from some events hundreds of years ago. The forever victim card. As if all countries or tribes or civilizations didn't try to "colonize" other neighboring countries or tribes, sometimes in the worst of ways.

Your Great Uncle reminds me of my late grandfather, who escaped the pogroms in what is now Belarus. (He came through Ellis Island in the late 1800's and did wild shit during his lifetime. Diamond merchant, rum-runner, "Jewish Mafia" insurance salesman). As I've said before, I want to move to Israel, but I have an amazing son here in NY.

@@TheTravelingClatt AM ISRAEL CHAI plz read this from Isaiah 41 8 “But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend, 9 I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. 10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. 11 “All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. 12 Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. 13 For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

Well, it was quiet here in Tzfat today and I hope it stays that way. I went to the market and purchased extra food that can be eaten without cooking. I’m going to be returning to Karmiel because my daughter is expecting and they need my help with the other children. Your family is so beautiful and I love your family’s Emunah and bitochon - attitude…Ashreinu - we desire only peace. And all us ‘white colonizers’ from Europe, check out the history - seems a lot like the experiences of Jews everywhere. As for the good graces of the US? That’s changing, too. Just like the rest of the world. We’re Zionists because there is no where else we belong and nowhere else to ‘go back too.’ ❤

Shalom aleichem So lovely to see and hear your family elders. My father in law was a 10 Yr old and witnessed the atom bomb exploding over Hiroshima whilst on his way to school. Its amazing the history that still lives among us, Israel with its survivors of the Shoah, farhud and many other testimonies of the time. One thing. When your aunt Rachel was talking about the love she had for others she mentioned the Notsrim which you failed to mention alongside Muslims and arabs, I'm thinking quite a few of your audience may belong to that group so may appreciate the call out! May your family be safe and protected

Yes, that's true. Tal didn't translate that Aunt Rahel said, "We love everyone, Arabs, Christians....." It's hard doing interpretation! Maybe he can do subtitles on this video at some point to capture everything his family said.

"These are very old buildings. They've been around for 60-70 years." In Israel? Where 2000-year-old buildings are quite common? 😅 My aunt and uncle live in a building just like that in nearby Bat Yam. Thank you so much for this video. You all are Israel. Your video is just on time. I watched a video by Ilan Pappe, and he was speaking as if he were the voice of all Iraqi Jews. I was thinking, "There must be Iraqi Jews who were born in Iraq and can tell things quite contrary to his stuff." And here you are, with your wonderful family. You have nothing to be ashamed of and nothing to apologize for. Those who today call you "colonizers" yesterday called you other nasty names. They lost then, and they will lose now. . Am Israel Chai!
