I’m in first grade and highest note is octuple Ab

i'm an 8th grader and the highest note i can play comfortably (able to hit it every time) is E, still in the staff. i can play F most of the time, and an occasional G. i'm hoping this can help me build my range to hopefully get into wind ensemble freshman year of high school😄 (they usually don't let freshmans in)

I wanna play the E from the solo in Cave of Mind from Howl’s Moving Castle, with good control since it’s so soft and gentle… it’s not very high but I’m just beginning so it’s hard to keep it steady especially so softly - thanks for the videos!

My band never had high parts for trumpets, so I never practiced high notes much. Now as a high schooler, we have to hit a high F every so often, so I've been practicing my range like crazy. I can now play a high B flat relatively comfortably and I can sometimes reach up to a high C.

My range has been kind of stuck at C# above the staff pretty comfortably and my goal before ending sophomore year is to play D and E above the staff comfortably. I've hit a D a few times and E that was decent like once so I hope to get better

I just made lead trumpet as a freshman in jazz 2. Jazz 1 is the better band but I still did better than most sophomores and I need to get my range up. I started noticing results within a week and these 3 videos are helping me a lot. My highest note (without changing my embouchure and squeaking it out) is a c above the staff. I want to get an octave higher by the end of the school year. I struggle with pushing the trumpet in my face, pinching my teeth, and blocking up my air in the throat. I want to know how I can improve and thanks for these great videos!

Im a senior in high school and do lead and earlier this year I tore the muscle that goes around the lip from overlaying. I had a new embosure to compensate for the injury with 25% upper lip and 75% lower. I didnt play much and did let myself recover. However I got my first lesson and was told to switch to a 50/50 embochure. With the old one and before my injury I could play a double g now I'm only getting back to high c. It's annoying buy I'll get back up there with the help of my teacher and plenty of practice. I hope these excersizes will help get my range back as well.

Alright, ima ask for some help real quick if ya dont mind.. How do you get your face to *not* be red when playing for long bits or high notes? The veins in my neck will puff out, my neck itself will strain, my face gets all red due to the pressure (I think), and when I play anything higher than a high E (probably not as high as you're thinking) I will tend to feel a headache-type pain (maybe a static if you can imagine that) in the center of my brain. Is this common and what am I doing wrong? My band teacher (who has played trumpet for 21 years now) keeps telling me to put more air to hit high notes, but that creates that pain in my head that genuinely hurts. Sometimes makes me see black and white and mostly makes me sleepy, drowsy, and dizzy after playing. Thank you for taking time to read this far, just wanted to know for about a year now why this happens to me and no one else.

im in a jazz band with a bunch of really good trumpets with much better ranges than i have (like I'm grade 8 but c sharp is probs the highest i can go in a piece). id love to get more confident all the way to maybe an f, so that next year when i move up the ranks i don't disappoint everyone :)

I Can hit dub C's only on a good day. Double A is fine and I can get it good but thing is I'm trying to apply less pressure becuase it makes my front tooth "shimmy" which is really bad . So any tips on applying less pressure to the point where i dont press the mouthpiece up on my teeth?

Hey there! Trumpet player, 4.5 years. I can play about high D (above the staff) with the occasional Eb or E in the mix. I am in the Jazz Band, occasionally play lead on some pieces, and it's unbelievable how fun Jazz Band is. Leaving this comment because I hope to use this to make my way into screamer stuff. Maybe try to get up to a double Ab at the highest because that's the highest note I've ever seen in a jazz chart (Tank by John Wasson, if you're curious). Posted Nov 27, 2023. To gain range you need to play in the upper register more often (It's probably going to have to be a daily thing in your practice routine, just make sure that it isn't the only thing you practice however) *2. Just go slowly by half-steps 3. Octave glisses 4. Watching out for excessive mouthpiece pressure in the upper register 5. Your mouthpiece placement on the chops 6. Fast/ efficient air *7. Relaxing the throat - not forcing the note out, letting the air do the job for you 8. Starting articulation of the note you are trying to learn 9. Hearing the note in your head before you play it 10. Resting the chops (After practicing all throughout the week I usually give myself Saturday & Sunday off) 11. Having confidence *12. Tightening the core - Breathing from the abdomen "Flexing your core"

i used to be able to play to a D above the staff, but then i made the decision to change my embouchre.... right now i can barely hit an F on top the staff, heck even the C on the staff is hard. I have played trumpet for 67 years playing orchestral, jazz, and small group genres. I have fought for years to play trumpet using a upper plate. I was in a car accident and had my upper teeth shattered. have tried everything to get all my playing range back but I can't seem to extend my range past high C. I like the exercises you have given but I don't think it will assist with extending my range. I am considering having a full dental implant procedure. Won't cost much more than a good used car. Have you known of anyone who is playing that has dental implants and gained upper range.

High C is my average comfortable zone. I have hit a D above that and even E above that. But less often

I am in year 6 (I’m 11 and British so you don’t get confused) and I started playing trumpet in year 4. On a good day, my tone is quite good and I can just barely hit a high C.
