Tom Chambers is one of the most underrated players ever and certainly deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. "Tommy Gun" was a 6'10" power forward with hops and could really score the basketball, the dude was problem. He's most well known for his monster dunk over Mark Jackson where his head was over the rim but Chambers was an excellent scorer that had a nice set shot from the outside and could over power defenders in the paint after driving by em in the triple threat. Chambers was so athletic and was deadly on the break where he could run by players and jump over opponents. Chambers should be in the Hall of Fame.

If his Suns had won a championship during his prime or at least made the finals, I'm sure he would be. By the time they actually made it to the finals he wasn't the star on the team anymore. Still a solid contributor, but I think his other problem was lack of longevity too. He didn't continue scoring a shit load of points in his 30's. To go from scoring around 27 ppg in your prime to like 12ppg is a big drop.

I hate the word “underrated” because everyone comments that on every single KZfaq post but Tom Chambers is legitimately underrated. Dude was a bad ass.

I wish Barkley could have joined Chambers when Barkley was in his prime around 1990 and Tom was a little younger, they could have done it. One thing is for certain, there would have been a lot of dunks, those guys were explosive,

From Europe (Spain) Tom Chambers was like a Larry Bird with athleticism but without a good team. By the way, James Worthy was one of my all time favourites, unstoppable on the post. Thanks for sharing.

What do you mean without a good team ? He was on multiple 50 win and a 62 win teams with the Suns and played in the Conference Finals at least 4 times and the NBA Finals once , you don't get that far with a bad team !
@dugdru2

He was born in Utah - went to high school in Colorado and went to college in Utah. He was not from Spain. Also - he was with the suns that won 62 games and went to the Finals in 93 - that was a good team. He was a dunker much more than a shooter so not really like Larry Bird.

That wasn't cool to take Tom out when he has 56 with 3 minutes left. He could have gotten 66. Those kind of accomplishments is something you look back on when you're retired getting older and smile. Your kids and grandkids get to brag about you.

Very happy with the Showtime Lakers era. However, I would have loved to have seen Chambers with Kareem, Magic, and Worthy. I believe Chambers would have understood the situation, Magic would have made the distribution adjustments, and Head Coach Pat Riley would have managed the egos.
