Be it a phone conversation, a job interview or simply asking a girl/guy out on a date. Stammering or Stuttering can make any normal situation, extremely difficult.
And I am not the only one. According to the Stuttering Foundation, there are over 70 million people worldwide. And inspite of that, nobody talks about stammering. Infact, if I start stammering, other people get uncomfortable. People who stammer are judged and sometimes also made fun of. And because of that we develop stress, anxiety and start stammering even more.
But it doesn’t have to be this way, because you can put an end to it. Stammering is not a disease like tuberculosis, malaria for it to have a ‘cure’. But if people who stutter and the society join hands, then stuttering can be controlled or eliminated altogether. All it takes is awareness and we are creating this video to achieve exactly that. So in today’s video we are going to discuss:
1) What causes stammering?
2) What can you do if your child or a student in your class stammers?
3) How to talk to a person who stammers?
4) 5 Things that have helped Sugandh control his stammering.
5) But most important in the end, we will give you a Bonus Tip that’ll ensure that stammering doesn’t stop you from becoming who you want to be.

I'm an english teacher. I sometimes stammer while I teach in view of completing a lot of topic within a short time. Pupils laugh at me but I never bother about it. I give them the reason why I stammer. You helped me by your videos. I already suggested my students to view your videos and sent the links of your videos. Anyhow I am a great beneficier of your videos. Thank you both.

I have a tip for who stammers . 1. Do yoga (OM) 2. Read newspaper 3. Practice long and difficult words. 4. Talk to one of your female friend. It really helps you because it really helps Mee too. 5. Talk in front of mirror. 6. As they say talk slowly. 7. Very much important, be f*c*ing confident. Not all people are like your close friends or family. They definitely judge you so be fearless. 🙏

Being a PSW .. sometimes it's very difficult to talk in public, just because I stammer and people are making Lough on me..at the age 18 i consult a speech therapist, but i don't take that speech therapist too seriously.and now I am 21years old a college student and also a shy guy ..even I am not able to give a presentation in the class just because my shyness natural and fear of stammering.i wanted to change my this behavior through your videos and many other resources like talking in front of mirror , talking more and more with friends, talking strangers...I advice to teen agers who are stammered don't make your stammering as your weekness .. just speak whatever you want.. don't care what people did after.🙏

I also stammer sometimes....I might do minor stammering on a regular basis but I don't realise it....I realise it when it intensifies when I am excited , upset or nervous..... But I have grown to accept it and improve it with practise. Thanks for the video and the awareness. Keep the good work up!!!!👍👍

When my students start stammer while taking seminar. I say them that " oh it's a new way of explanation kindly continue pls don't give a break" So that they get confidence and deliver what ever they prepared. Once they finish I will conclude the left out points and ask them very next day to give a short glimpse of what they took seminar on last class. To my surprise they even deliver the points which they left previous class and Add more points and examples to the subject

I try to use synonyms to words that get stuck inside my vocal chord and start tge stuttering even before that I replace the word using a synonym. I have difficulty pronouncing "Good Morning" I just wish "Morning" with one of my best smiles to people. Because I can pronounce "Morning" without any difficulty. Some people might feel rude in a telephonic conversation because aren't able to see the smile. I have to give the extra effort. In my childhood my parents used to make me read the headlines from English newspaper infront of the Mirror. Now I stammer less in English more in Hindi. Speaking while looking at the mirror increases self confidence but it happens only in children. In the adult phase I have my share of embarrassment, bullying and it's kind of depressing off putting because here expressing oneself becomes difficult, sometimes pushes me to the silent corner. Where one speaks with their own mind "your mind is your best friend" and interact less with the external world. Messanger Apps is a blessing otherwise again facing the harsh world for groceries, veggies, fruits, restaurants, waiter, booking centres etc giggling behind the back... And after one such horrid day ... Life goes on...

For me, accepting that I stammer and being open about it made me less worrying about it. If a child who stutters is put in a happy and comfortable environment, where people would listen to him, play with him, where no one would make fun of him etc., I believe he will overcome his stuttering Slowly. Stuttering is Problem in your brain not in your tongue. When a child who has previously been made fun of speaks, he Immediately remembers his stuttering and when he starts speaking because of the fear he encountered previously he stutters Again. This Thing continues in circle because our brain remembers emotional things more efficiently compared to other normal things! There should be separate schools for children who stutter. When a child who stutters goes to school, he has fear inside due to which he doesn't feel comfortable in the school environment! He doesn't answer questions even though he knows the answers. Unfortunately our teachers aren't that Sharp, intelligent and kind that they would recognise Problems of a student. It becomes more problematic when children in the school start making fun of him! This fear remains inside of him and this fear can ruin one's social life! People who stutter are very sharp and intelligent compared to people who can speak normally. Stuttering is a sign of intelligence but normal people see us in a complete opposite way!

mam can u make a video on what are important skills to learn for any person irrespective of their background or college majors during college and why they are important and how to learn them. and by skills i dont mean communication skills, listening skills, emotional skills blah blah i know they are important but i am asking about skills like adobe photoshop, writting skills, programming or public speaking etc. etc. If you like my comment i will think that you will soon grant my request.

Thanks for the video. What is the cause of stammering, I have been wondering what caused mine after ten years of speaking well? I had never stammers before until I fell sick at age ten with feverish condition and went into coma for three months and recovered in the fourth month and cannot speak till I started stammering little by little and manage till date.

I am also a stammer. To overcome this I do practice reading loudly everyday morning. And do yoga and meditation and it is helping me improving my voice quality and decreasing my stammering problem.

I was laughed at by my friends, rebuked and yelled at by my dad. I used to dread when I had to recite poetries in front of the class. What do you think l did?
