I adore this life and while I love watching it (been watching since Ben rented a small house w just a few animals in the backyard), I get such a strong sense of how little I am living. Ben worked a 9-5 job too and he was very unsatisfied. He talked about how unfulfilled he was, that he wasn’t even working all of his hours. Then during communion w God he had insight that he was “stealing hours” from his employer and that he was going to go full time into rescue and the channel (because he was meant to LIVE in joy and with purpose!). And I wish I had the courage (and energy; let’s be real at my age) to create a life like this for myself. This channel for me is bittersweet. I love the ranch and the whole time I watch I am reminded that life can be like THIS instead of my dark rainy city and full time professional work with a cramped apartment and each day is similar. 💕 😢 😊

Something we built for our enclosure was a double door setup (called a man-trap, but we use it to make sure the animals don't get out.) It gives you a buffer space where one door is always closed. All you'd have to do is build a small extension off the front door and put another door in it. Then you can come and go without even having to think about it too much.

Just thinking with that heat and dry area you could grow trays of sprouted grains for the plant eating critters. Example you can place oats or barley in a tray water using drip irrigation, you can have outside racks of the things and in 7 days you have strips of “lawn” to feed fresh. Doesn’t take much to improve the animals as the sprouted enzymes are extremely rich. It helps enrich their feeding and its tasty for them. The way you do it is take 1 kg growable oats or barley (not crimped or rolled) soak over night, spread on tray and in that dryness drip irrigate. Keep them shaded so under a shade cloth on racks. Do every day. 7th day the first crop is ready, and it keeps going. 1 kg seed becomes 7 kg weight of fresh sprouted mat about 4 inches tall. Because its no earth the roots and everything are eatable. This was the drought and heat of high summer still grows grass. If you build the grow racks right you can have the top try drain into the next shelf down and so on so very minimal water use as opposed to watering the whole pastures. You can sprout other grains or seeds too for the animals. Cheers

The Morelet's crocodile, also known as the Mexican or Belize crocodile, is a medium-sized crocodilian found in the fresh waters of the Atlantic regions of Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala. The scientific name for the Morelet's crocodile is Crocodylus moreletii. They’re basically the same as the American Crocodile as their range crossed with each other’s until the American Croc almost went extinct. Their numbers have made a HUGE comeback over the years and finding 15-18 foot American Crocs in the Everglades National Wildlife Refuge is not uncommon.

Watching the rescue branch make all these additions and changes over the last few years feels a lot watching your Minecraft base get developed and transformed over time. Really gratifying to think about all the work that has been done. And to think that Big Ounce did it all by himself!

They were so prominent early morning and at night. I don’t hear it anymore but seeing you caring for one touched my heart.

The Urban Rescue Ranch is an excellent progressive guide to support and rehabilitate the environment. I only recently got you on KZfaq vids on my feed. It’s hard to work with the system to create a successful non profit that creates this type of rehabilitation and thrive but Ben seems to be able to keep himself balanced through the ordeal. Since having all this public internet interchange in your personal life and business life is making Ben more aware of boundaries, I wanted to reach out and say that I’m also impressed by the wisdom you have with personal boundaries and the public. Any musician will tell you that is both a curse and a blessing. Fans and haters can warp your belief that people are too dangerous. They do lots of stupid things and humans are evil. Keep your faith in your cause and guardians or friends you never knew will show up. Thank you Ben for keeping faith alive. Thank you for your courage and tenacity in these days of extremism. Change is hard but with individuals like yourself American can sustain and be a better example of the positivity of rational application of self sustainability. Peace be with you.
