Being dismissive not however, I think if you have not struggled you may not have a clear message what the struggle is. The message was clear back in the day. Everyone knew exactly what was on the line or what was at stake. The Civil Rights movement or the fight for women's rights etc. I think that was what Whoopi was trying to point out. Today the complexities of today's world without having lived the same struggles b/c of the work that was put in by past generations yeah you have to wonder if young people truly understand what is at stake and I don't think that's being dismissive, but it is concerning. Sunny can only be certain of her two and as she has reminded us on numerous occasions that the brain continues to develop until the age of 25, we can only hope and pray for the best outcome.

To me, Whoopi comes from that old school of "the young people need to come & tug on our coats - so we can show them how to continue doing things the way we would have done it". Unfortunately, the younger generation is willing to play much more aggressive politics then the older generation agrees with. This is why older black dems in South Carolina put Joe on the presidential map because he was "safe". The 2 schools of thought will never converge into 1 unless they can agree that there is beneficial insight from both age demographics. If we go the pace of boomers we'll never see the potential of America. But if we have the all or nothing approach of Gen Z we could end up losing the entire Republic to the GOP cult who is tenaciously voting in every election. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Protesting nowadays does not equate to critical thinking, since being a “critical thinker” is now a trend. Most of these kids are only repeating their algorithms and to think “well at least they are in the right side of history”… well yes but do we want people that follow? Or do we want leaders for change?

But doesn’t the fact that she can say we need fewer influencers (who are typically of the age of the generation she’s talking about) prove Whoopi’s point that the younger generation isn’t actually trying to make the hard change?

She's not dismissive, and that's wrong with our politics. Both sides are pandering to young people, and you can't be critical of them or ask them to take their time before reacting or making a decision. It's like both sides think "these people are in the way of what I want to do. Let's get rid of them and get younger, more impressionable people in there."

A 20 year old then is different than a 20 year old now, not everyone back then was old. A lot of people from that era said they wanted to get into the fight sooner, but their parents told them to wait. Many young people might be thoughtful and informed, but I would not say most.
