I agree. After the debate I felt lost as an American. Both did very poorly. How is it in 2024 we let our country have only these two candidates. One debate does not measure a man's competence to lead. Biden has been a more than competent leader these past 4 years and delivered on his policies as promised. The effects of his accomplishments will become evident if he is given the chance to lead four more years but will all be negated if Trump wins and turns America into a dictatorship.

Everyone says the debate was a hot mess. The debate appeared to be organized, wasn’t a shouting match, felt they were both civil and somewhat professional. Regardless of how awful they both performed (Biden age vs Trump lies) the debate was easy to follow and I was able to receive the information from both without a soap opera of drama.

Another missed opportunity: Biden cites Trump’s “losers” claim about WWI soldiers in France. Trump denied it and Biden could have brought up how he denigrated John McCain’s military service on camera, something we all saw and heard and can rewatch at any moment, rather than dispute a claim that Trump of course denied and was not caught on record. Instead Biden went after him in the name of his own veteran son, who passed away from a brain cancer that can’t be directly related to his military service, despite his claims that they were seemingly related. It’s a genuine and emotional rebuttal he has used on Trump before, I think even in the 2020 debates, but he had some low-hanging fruit there with the on-camera McCain awfulness that would have bolstered the credibility that Trump would have made similar comments in France.
