It's the unspoken words between her and Whoopi at the end. Whoopi was showing her support and validation in a motherly and sisterly way. Like "Sis...I got you. You're good. You're HERE. You made it through the storm and you're doing GREAT." I love it. You can tell that Mel still needs that. And when you've been in an abusive relationship, you need that kind of support. I'm extremely happy for Mel.

Yup. Not to mention, she’s lucky that she got out of that relationship with her face still intact. I wasn’t so lucky. I was beautiful before I entered a relationship four years ago. Now I have a missing front tooth and the others are chipped from him repeatedly punching me in the face. it’s hard to get a job looking like this… people assume that you are a drug addict when you have missing teeth.

Sure that’s easy to say. But they are so charming when you meet them. I just got out of a relationship of four years with a physically and financially abusive man. Mel is lucky that she has her face intact. I was beautiful before I entered that relationship, and now I have a front tooth and several chipped teeth in the front because of him repeatedly smashing my face. Hard to get a job, make new friends or be taken seriously when you are missing teeth. 😔

This awareness is so needed. It's true it's not discussed enough compared to other issues. Thank you Mel B for being able to bring this awareness even though it's clear it's still difficult to discuss in some ways. It makes other survivors feel seen and helps others hopefully avoid these situations or see the warning signs. Thank you!!!

Blessings to you my dear.......us women need so much more than is offered when having been in a domestic abusive relationship. To many of us are even shamed for having been with someone abusive let alone being supported and loved back to life. It's terrifying and alot of work on the road back to life once free from such monsters.

I am So happy that someone Finally said that responders to DV situations need to be retrained on how to handle these situations. That it is not always apparent who the "victim" is, and those who are being called for help need to be able to read the situation, sometimes between the lines. My husband's former wife used the current system to control him, to keep him from leaving her. She used their children as weapons, she used the police and department of human services to keep him from seeking help by playing the victim. He was finally able to leave her when his work therapist told him he was in an abusive relationship, and he works in construction so if his work doctor could see the situation it had to be a very bad homelife, and it was.
