Here’s the thing, judges don’t really know what to do with opera singers. There are singers, rappers etc but opera singers are just WORLD class and in their own league. Super talent

Agree. They don't really know what to do with opera singers because there is a lack of knowledge on how those voices come about etc. That said it is also clear that hardly any of the contestant can be called a true opera singer.

Its true in this sence: its like forging your voice into a piece that can be formed in whatever you want after. If you are classical or opera trained you can learn other types of singing more easely.

That second gentleman was incredibly clever to include that small R&B run there at the end. He wanted those other chair turns, so he showed those judges that he can sing more than opera!

You are right! But "Nessun Dorma" is so overdone in these competitions, also "Babbino caro", that these beautiful pieces turned into boring for me... It's a pitty!

@@birdylove24No, it's Cause these Judges they don't care if the singer actually has a good voice, they only pick singers they know will be marketable. Pop, RnB and blues is More marketable than classical.

The second gentleman should stick to R&B because he's got no clue how to sing opera, at least not how it should be performed in an opera house. He doesn't understand what he's singing (the text and the expression don't match), his Italian is dreadful (he's got a strong English accent and taking breath between two syllables of a word, like in VIN - CERÒ!, is a no go), he inserts all style of mannerisms that have no place in opera (and I don't speak only about the R&B run, but about many other things), he doesn't know that you don't sing Calàf with a lyrical voice like his (and a tone lower than originally written) and, most importantly, he's got no idea about breath support. This means that without the microphone his voice would be drowned by the orchestra. He already is barely audible on the lower notes (granted, not the strongest register of a lyrical voice).

The issue with opera and talent shows is not all judges or coaches have the capability of coaching Opera Singers so they are literally afraid of Opera but Opera singers are the most talented ones as they can sing the highest notes ever.

I was told when I was a teenager I couldn't sing. I went on to be on BBC Songs of Praise and Sang on stage. People do not understand that opera singers are able to cover most music styles. Thank you God Almighty for giving me a voice to Praise you 🎶🎵

Cant believe only 1 judge turned with the 2 ladies singing the aria from madame butterfly. Their voices and harmonies were breathtaking breathtakingly beautiful

I love how the coach admited that even if the singer is top they doesn't have what it takes to exploit their potential. i love opera but it would be a waste push the button if I don't know how to coach them properly.

O Babino Caro- she did an awesome job on that. I sang that song for my recital when I took opera lessons. Singing opera is much harder than it seems.

Même si l'on aime pas l'opéra, il faut reconnaitre que tous les candidats ont une voix fantastique, chacuns dans leur registre de téssiture. Je suis une Rockeuse avant tout, mais je suis sensible aux belles envolées lyriques et aux belles voix. L'émotion était là :) BRAVO !

Опера и попса это абсолютно разная музыка и уж если пригласили таких певцов которые могут взять другие ноты то и судьев будьте любезны не из попсы пригласите а оперного плана! Рига

Check Krystian Ochman! He won the Voice of Poland. He has got a classical background and his grandfather is very famous opera singer!

the problem with singers who use Bel Canto technique is that it is hard to unlearn it and sing pop. The number one rule of bel Canto singing is no action in the throat which goes entirely against pop singers. Yes, classical singers are incredibly skilled and at the height of vocal technique, but it can be hard for these people to sing pop without sounding classical because to them, pop singers sing incorrectly. This is why opera singers have a hard time singing pop because pop singers use muscles in the throat to create vocal colors which go against the rules of bel canto. I'm assuming this is why they would be hard to work with and the judges don't really know what to do with.

The 'Figaro' singing voice is the most genuine to the composition, even if there is 'commercial' merits to the Nessun Dorma following candidate. The O Bambino Caro too exhibited greater qualities, as well as did the duo that followed, before we bounced back into 'Commercial-grade', before accelerating a free-fall into 'show-business' voices. Gemma Nha revived Lyrical authenticity no other Belli Voci could compare to. Do not get me wrong, each and every one had audible qualities to their 'Bel Canto', but only a few deserve recognition! This should never be about the 'sauce'; all should be about the real substance of the voice, in all of its true 'organic' splendour, and its ability to celebrate the composer who authored the piece in the first place!

I loved all of the contestants and enjoy a smattering of opera. Usually I enjoy rock and roll in all it's varied forms. I chuckled 😊 when I heard the young woman who combined opera with pop music. She had so much fun with her performance. I felt that she was showing the judges that she could sing more than opera. Bravo!🎉

Todos espléndidos.. todos con mérito.... Pero me dió la impresión de que todo era demasiado para el Jurado. El primer concursante tiene una voz impresionante y mucho talento pero algunos criticaban lo bien parecido que era.. no entendí. El moreno de Nesun Dorman, el segundo, metió algo R&B para llegarle a los que no sabian qué escuchaban.. muy bueno en general aunque dividió una palabra al final VIN CERÓ.. un pecado... vean el final de la joven de origen asiatico que cantó Nesun Dorman. La Chica de "La Reina de la Noche", valiente al cantar esa aria, lo más difícil de todo el espectáculo. Todos admirables, aunque pueden mejorar... pero ADMIRABLES.

Jason Derulo has an extensive music education including The American Musical and Dramatic Academy and others so he probably has a good appreciation of opera.

@jashuasoedjanto1013 he took classical voice lessons- it’s not quite the same as being trained in opera. Anyone can sing classically, very few have what it takes to sing opera (singing while acting, dancing, with hours of memorized music and blocking in your head, perfect pronunciation and NO MIC)

The first guy was more about his looks the black guy a light tenor with a nice voice went a little pitchie in the last note, the third the girl was simply amazing, have to see the rest jajajaja
