I was a Henry Winkler fan before I heard this interview, now I'm a superfan. He's such a good person, thank you for hosting the interview.

Henry Winkler is a living gem. How can you not love this man?

I worked for Mr. Winkler on a film, and I met him once. He is the kindest and most decent man I’ve ever met in Hollywood. (And Spielberg). Hollywood can be very hard on people. The high pay makes people cut throat.

This hit home for me. I didn’t know Winkler and I had similar upbringings. My father also was a German refugee of the Holocaust who channeled that into being excessively strict. Years later he actually apologized to me. Now that I’m older I can better understand why he was the way he was. My brother and I see now with hindsight he suffered from PTSD.

But I was determined to find Help for him. I had him tested it was Expensive but it was worth Every Penny. They told me he’d Never be able to Read and I Proved them all wrong. He Reads Everything today. Never Never give up on your Kids. Be their Advocate Fight for them Every Step of the Way. It’s Important to understand that not all Children learn the same way. Their Brains are Wired Different. Pain and Struggle can be Avoided. Thanks Steve 😘

What an excellent presentation. I always thought of Henry Winkler as a lightweight comedian. I was wrong. There is depth to this man, and I admire his honesty regarding his limitations, as well as those of his parents. I see him very differently, now.

What a GREAT interview with Henry Winkler! You ask the best questions. Was fascinated and saddened by the Kennedy video. The idiocy, profound ignorance of our present leaders made my brain explode. I KNEW, of course, just took a face plant in it…

I have such compassion for Henry's learning disability. My father could have been his. My brother had dyslexia and my father, who had been a teacher for 42 years, made his life a living hell. All because it made him look bad, not what it was doing to my brother! And I, too, became a totally different kind of parent because of what I had experienced as a child. Such a good interview! Thank you.

The Fonz, the man who exuded coolness by being sincerely cool. No need to tell us, he simply showed us. Fonz was the heart of our 1970s, he was our spiritual anchor to simply holding coolness in our hearts. Coolness by kindness and wisdom. Henry Winkler will always be the Fonz for us. ❤

I got through Dr Snyder’s Bloodlands this summer. He’s a Yale professor and this book (award winning) was what happened between Moscow and Berlin during the war years. Henry just talking about his uncle is making me weep. The personal stories from that book changed me forever. It was they most difficult book in my life. I associate Henry with comedy. This is not what i expected.

After watching him on “Happy Days”… I found him to be a limited actor… I was VERY wrong… He is a wonderful creative versatile actor… children’s book author… and kind man….I have SO MUCH admiration for him…. He certainly deserves any honors bestowed on him…

This is just wonderful - his upbringing was horrendous but he soldiered through his disability and became a wonderful human being. I never met him, but was good friends with his sister for several years. She was immensely proud of him and what he accomplished under these circumstances. Great interview Steve, I expected nothing less.

Henry Winkler, tremendous AND diverse actor. Many great performances not just Fonzi on Happy Days. Not likely to vote for him specifically in an election for public office cause the guy has seemed to be a bit too liberal on a number of issues. However being that I'm the great grandchild of 8 Roman Catholic Italians and have been trying to convert to Masorti Judaism (religion not political in nature) very much like Winkler, Adam Sandler, Sarah Silverman, Leonard Nimoy, and a number of others G-d's to honest truth I really do look up to him a lot ...

I have watched Steve's vids with a fair dose of lefty cynicism but this one has me tearing up.

Wow! The only thing I knew about Henry was The fonz. I’m so glad to know more. What a great man. Learning about his dyslexia and writing children book was insightful. Parents can be so cruel at times. We need to be ourselves not what our parents tell us to be.

I always love a Henry Winkler interview. He is such a humble and sweet man. His interviews are usually him celebrating someone else. I grew up knowing the Fonz. The 1st time i saw him give an interview, post " Happy days" i was surprised he was nothing Fonz like. I absolutely loved him as Gene on Barry. The last few episodes was his best acting. Not spoiling the ending. It was a ending that was and wasn't expected. I wish we can have another season.

I was never a Happy Days fan, nor a Fonzi fan, but Henry Winkler is a true human being. His advocacy for young children and wounded children is something very special.

Wow that's really something, I lived in Plainfield NJ back in 73, then moved to Piscataway NJ..just want to say keep up the good work, we need people like you to go back in history and explain how things can and will repeat themselves..I was an Army Brat in living in Baumholder Germany when Kennedy was Assassinated my Dad and I where going to check his car at a mechanic shop outside the base and the German man was in tears, because of our President . I can remember when everybody cared about the truth and each other...O

First of all, great interview Steve. I am so impressed by Henry Winkler and his life story. Much like Winkler I also grew up with a learning disability. The fact that he is still working harder than ever at 77 years old is a testament to his ethics. He is not content with retirement but keeps working. I have not seen Barry yet, but will put it on my list to watch (I love Bill Hader as well). I hope the network listens to him and puts Happy Days back in primetime. A whole new generation will learn about the show.

The Kennedy speech was very moving and regret the fact that our government lacks the qualities of that man.

When speaking about America's billionaires, Schmidt said that lot of people wrongly equate wealth with intelligence. Who else immediately flashed on Mike Lindell when he said that?

So many good people yet we allow the empty and most disturbed to abuse us all in the name of politics. When I hear such a sane loving conversation as this it makes me sad that we can't have elected officials like this.

It is unfortunate for Henry that he seems unable to forgive his parents for their ignorance of dyslexia; it was not known then. True that they did not need to treat him badly, but sooo many parents and teachers disparaged and punished children because of a disorder that the children could not control. My parents also were very strict, and sometimes very insulting. Forgive them, Henry, because it serves no purpose to continue to be angry with them.

I would’ve added “Roots” but technically it was a Tv video drama.

I never watched Happy Days growing up so I did not know much about Henry. This was a fascinating episode and I learned so much. What an extraordinary man! I wonder if Henry is/was multilingual. 🤔 I’m going to follow up on my research and reading. Boy, German parents could indeed be strict sans humor. And you always had to be productive.
