In a comprehensive interview to Karan Thapar for The Wire, Arundhati Roy says the present situation in the country is “extremely depressing” but she believes there are signs that the Indian people are climbing out of the hole they’ve fallen into. It is infact indirectly hinting at the people who are buying and selling and ruling the country and hint is that they all four are from Gujarat. Waise. It is nothing to do with Gujarati people. Karan’s cross examination of Ms. Arundhati Roy was quite effective. However, Ms. Roy is right that Mr. Modi has been intrinsically a fascist. Nevertheless, I salute Indian Opposition for making Mr. Modi kiss the Indian Constitution.

This combined with their influence over social and mainstream media and their use of religion in politics (which in itself is a violation of the code of conduct) may present a picture which is uglier than you think.

benefits of Karan thappar's interviews: 1. you get to bulid vocabulary ....( cocophony is todays word ) 2. you get to know whats happening in country 3. you can learn how to be a very good journalist- he does so much homework before every interview 4. you can watch an interview where in the end you dont wanna bang your head and abuse someone 5. Questions are sharp and incisive 6. He can make you drink water sometimes ...so all his panelist are in someway or the other be always worried whats he gonna shoot next . 7. when karan thappar is trying to drill into your answer ...panalists know that they are in trouble 8. even countrys smart lawyers sometimes get dumb stuck

You are right- 60 years up to 2014 we were in Golden era, no poverty, everyone has jobs,happy farmers no suicides, no Naxals no corruption, no scams, ( BOFORS, 2G/3G CWG , AUGUSTA helicopters were all lies), no black money,no communalism , Rahul and ANTONIA Maino (FAKE GANDHIS ) were paying their taxes, and we as Indian had very good reputation. BUT once Modi became PM we all lost job, people are dying because of food, infact everywhere is dark and doom and gloom and no hope etc etc..

If you talk about right, and who gave me this superiority of caste, so the Hindu Community is divided in four castes Brahmin Kshatriya Vaishyas Shudras . I was born in a brahmin family, hence I'm a brahmin, but that doesn't mean that I hold any sort of sense of pride associated with it. No. Insaaniyat ka dharm aur jaati sab se badi hai. And I believe in Vasudev Kutumbakam like a true Hindu should.

Best thing about karan that you always want to touch the sky, and sometimes it does, and sometimes he falls. I have always felt ever since June 1984 when the military accompanied by tanks entered Sri Harimandir Sahib India will be Balkanised. Panjab gave rise to a very serious separatist struggle, which prior to that time period was only echoed by a mere few individuals. From June 1984 this however gained popularity domestically & abroad. I have always felt there will be a Balkanisation of India. The way India is moving with a very hard Hindu right is not sustainable. India cannot be governed by a one size fit all approach. It goes against the entire geopolitical fabric which predate modern India. India’s roots lie in a federal system.

Beauty of democracy. You can endorse or oppose any political viewpoint as you choose. Currently people have chosen ,and if they wish change ,so be it. But the rule of law must persist.

Yes. If democracy is guarded people's will is the master. But that's where I start to get nervous. India's democracy has been weakening this decade. Independent institutions are being compromised, Government's political powers have increased exponentially so naturally, there is a question of whether India's democracy will remain in the first place or will it become a namesake democracy like Pakistan or Russia.

Excellent interview. Agree with her totally. After seeing the farmer's protest, had the same thought that, it's not any opposition party but people themselves, who will come to the rescue. And, like she said, it's not because people are loving or kind or anything. It's because they'll realise that they've been played. "Jab khud ke pet mein laat padegi, toh akal thikane aayegi". That's what is happening now all across the country. Even those who still blindly worship that megalomaniac leader (who thinks he's invincible) will one day realize that they have been made fools of.
