This song is such a voyage of discovery and wonder. It's Nightwish. They are truly in a class by themselves. No matter how many times I listen to any of their songs, I find something new. This one deeply touches my heart. Maybe because of the 50 years I spent without seriously listening to music. To me, somehow, this song represents my own recent voyage of discovery.

'Music, fanning the flame of a mystery' Tuomas' poetry never ceases to touch the soul does it? And as you say Tommy, these talented musicians understand the compositions and bueaty of every song. They are all colourful threads that create a wonderful tapestry..unique yet cohesive...A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU and this wonderful community! Got a feeling it will be a great one! Take care ok?! 🦋🤗

When you have time, I recommend listening to the second part of Human. :II: Nature.-album, All the works of nature which adorn the world with the fan made video (apparently approved by Tuomas). That's a musical journey :)

Music is a fantastic piece of music written from the point of view of the Music, Only Nightwish could perform this to its perfect state of intelligence and musicality, Every member of the band is a virtuoso performer, there are never enough superlatives to express how good they really are. One of my NW favorites. Especially in terms of the story and its implementation. Another song that tells about the evolution of music. The first was "The Greatest Show on Earth" and this one even more specifically. From complete silence, through the sounds of space to nature's own sounds and from there to the first instruments made by humans. From there, the journey continues to the Middle East, Greece and then we jump into metal music. Originally, Tuomas had also written the parts of classical music and jazz music, but during rehearsals he noticed that they were unsuitable for the song. He then wrote the song again... The instrument that you can see in the beginning of the Middle East section and the world's second oldest found and is located in London's Natural History Museum. NW was the first (and only) band in the world to get permission to photograph objects there for 4 hours (without the normal museum audience!). I would believe that they have received support for this from a so-called higher authority (Richard Dawkins?, David Attenborough?).

Just for info - I believe the character you see on the thumbnail is ancient Greek God PAN - god of the wild, of shepherds and other herders and music. The Lyre you see is the oldest known human constructed instrument made in ancient Sumeria around 4500 years ago. Oh by the way a wonderful piece of "music" by our favourite band also hehe.

And later on the album I think Marko in Endlessness, sings from the perspective of the Greek god Hermes, who among other things, is known as the god of thieves, escorting souls into the realm of the dead, which seems to fit the theme and lyrics of that song. Hermes is also credited with the creation of musical instruments like the Lyre and is also the father of Pan.

This is Perfect Album Opener !!! This album is a continuous story after "The Greatest Show On Earth" ( creation of the universe, earth and now the creation of Sound ). And the worlds oldest instrument (what you saw in this video), Lyres of Ur, about 4500 years old (they found 3 lyres of different quality at an ancient graveyard/burial site near the city of Ur) and the tablet leaning against it is the clay tablet with the worlds oldest song written down on it, roughly 3500-3600 years old. It's called "Hurrian hymn to Nikkal". Nikkal was the goddess of orchards so it's a good guess that it was written as some sort of wishing/thanking for a good harvest hymn. You can actually hear a bit of it played on CD2 in Anthropocene, Toumas added it in there and if you search for it you can find the piece being played in it's entirety on YT. Plus,...second CD has a Fan made music video (Approved by Tuomas himself ), and this is long 31:02 (ignored by most reactors, to this being an instrumental piece). My favorite part was "All it took was Time and silence" and Music stops for few seconds...awesome. Tuomas is a genius after all. I LOVE THIS ALBUM !!!! NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘

The beginning of the song is the “space sounds” recorded by NASA. The various electromagnetic vibrations were assigned the different frequencies resulting in the “sounds” we can hear - to include it in a song that is the Earth telling its story of “music” - amazing!

Music: This is Music actually being the narrator: from the first sounds on cave walls, to tribal drums and so forth. Real interesting is the scene where we see the Lyre, laying on the ground next it is a clay pot - referencing the first and oldest piece of written music ever discovered: called the "Hurrian Hymn No.6", (google) and there is a video on YT playing that piece. "The Hurrian Hymn was discovered in the 1950s on a clay tablet inscribed with Cuneiform text. It’s the oldest surviving melody and is over 3400 years old. The hymn was discovered on a clay tablet in Ugarit, now part of modern-day Syria, and is dedicated the Hurrians’ goddess of the orchards Nikkal."

Music and humans have been intertwined since the first man struck the hollow log. We use it to for celebrating, rituals. worship, motivation, relaxation.. the drum and fife were meant to calm or steel the young men marching to what might be their death. This song is a love letter from Music to man, together for a long time. I've heard it many times already, but it doesn't get old for me. All the members of NW operate on a different level, it seems. Love your reaction Tommy, great job ❤ and ✌️

Happy New Year, Tommy. This song had a similar effect on me the 1st I heard it. And then I heard it again, then again, and it fast became a favourite. The slow build was more than just adding to the soundscape. It was an addition of texture, like building a foundation but one that nestled you in like a comfortable blanket. Floor's piccicato vocals, later in the song, were a delight, and the vocal cadences in this were the forwarning of what Floor would be required to achieve on the rest of the album. Music is the opening track. You've listened to both Shoemaker and Procession, so I'm sure you'll get my drift. Just fking magic in musical form! 🤘😎🤘

As a musician, this is easily my favorite NW song. I love how the music progresses from the literal sound of the universe (the opening drone is based on data from CERN telescopes, I believe, and is the auditory equivalent of the background radiation of the universe), to the sounds of nature, to simple chanting and percussion, to simple instrumentation and finally into the more modern implementation of what we now consider music. It’s a full history of sound, and just fantastic to listen to. The actual melody early on is based on the first known piece of music ever written down (the Hurrian hymn from ancient Mesopotamia). There’s so much lore and history stuffed into this song, the more you listen to it the better it gets.

Hi Tommy, I'm not aware of any full love performances though a snippet has been used as the intro to most of the H::N your gigs. Another one with awkward intervals and scansion, like Shoemaker. How light a voice Floor can use, contrasted with something like Yours is an Empty Hope for example. She is remarkable of course, but that relies on Tuomas writing the work and the rest of the band interpreting their parts do well. I think it's a shame they didn't do this live in full when I saw them at Wembley.

This is my honest opinion as old NW fan (since 2000) - this album is their worst. Form over content - to much showing off over good music. I appreciate the artistic form of this album song`s but I never listen to them for pleasure. Just been watching reaction from time to time... What can I say? Or you love it or not. I hope this year's album will be better, but subconsciously I know that's a fool's hope. Quite ironically I call them from some time Half-wish. Sorry "real" fans...

I find it hard to believe that we use a GOD to divide us. LOVE is universal. So what is the problem? Humans are clever but stupid. We need to abolish a one God idea and love each other. God would like that. Why must we hate and kill each other over stupid things? There was one event that created the universe. So there is one cause for it. Not two or three. So religion is a bad omen that keeps us apart to the liking of politics. Yes they have played us all along. So can we wake up? Can we find a common human ground? We were not the first to exist in this universe. Others came first and they have the tech advantage over us to move through the universe. So we think they are gods? If we went to a primitive planet they would think we were gods no? It is a game of thrones for the political powers to fight over. Hate this love that bla bla bla. We have been duped! Space travel is just evolution. Nothing more. So some one who was created millions of yrs before we were came here and left an impression. So what! We still have to make it to the end of this insanity we call human Earth life. We are stupid just as we were long ago. We can add numbers and make tech but we have no idea what reality is. Nightwish looks for new pathways to creative thought. We should do the same.
